Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (99)

Ten Things of Thankful

I'm so tired right now. Somehow, it feels as if no matter how much I sleep (and I had a 2-hour nap today with little Calvin), I'm still tired.  But at least, I also was productive today. After getting the lawn put down this week, the girls and I planted some berries and other plants; hope to be able to eat some berries from our own yard later this year!

My 10 Thankfuls for this week:

1. Nutella breakfast with the girls  :-)

2. A nice visit from my mom and her neighbor. We went shopping and my mom had her hair done. We really had a great time!

3. A trip to Dunkin' Donut with Violet and Calvin. It's opened in town over a year ago, and finally I made it there!

4. A wonderful morning with my friend. She shared her wedding album with me; she's from India, and her poor, unsuspecting Eastern-German engineer husband had to endure 3 days of rituals and celebrations with up to 650 guests (about 5 on his side). I told hubby about it and expect endless gratitude that I didn't make him to wear a turban for our wedding. Just saying  :-)

5. Living in a good community. While our car was still down with a busted tire, one of Lily's friend's mom gave us a ride to the doctor after Lily cut her hand pretty badly chopping fruit in school.

6. Lily's teacher once again only having words of praise for Lily. We may have issues at home at the moment, but at least she's on her best behavior in school.

7. Calvin for being the adventurous, interested, exploring little chap he is; Violet for being my sweet, loving, caring girl; Lily for being my independent, smart, strong-willed girl.

8. The feeling of fresh, green grass in between my tows when watering the lawn.

9. A little mini-mani at home after digging in the dirt for a couple of hours this afternoon. My hands are clean again.. Sort of...

10. My husband for interrupting my day with back-rubs and hugs. They are the sweetest reminders of how much I love him throughout our busy days.

What are you thankful for this week?

    1. I planted raspberries, strawberries, red currants, and two sorts of gooseberries. Can't wait to harvest :-) Trying to get some rest this week, thanks a lot, Ivy!

  2. Something so fulfilling about working in the dirt. Lily cut her hand at school? Ouch, hope she's okay. And spending time with your mom, wonderful. Happy Mother's Day.

    1. Happy Mother's Day to you as well, Val! Yes, Lily had a little accident chopping fruit at school, but luckily it wasn't too bad. The doctor put a few butterfly tapes on to keep the wound closed and bandaged up her hand; she was a very brave girl and didn't even flinch once!!

  3. It's amazing how differently kids can act between home and school. I've had parents tell me they were scared of parent-teacher conferences, when all I had to say was nice things about the kids. I'm glad Lily is doing well at school. :)

    1. I am, too :-) I can deal with a defiant Lily at home, but I'm really thankful that she's behaving in school. Hope you're having a wonderful week, Christine!

  4. HA! I'm with you on having sort-of clean hands. Dandelion muck gets ENTRENCHED, I tell ya!

Love that you had a 2 hour nap with Calvin, and I hope you feel less tired soon.

    1. Thanks so much, Lizzi! I actually don't mind having dirty hands, as long as the muck comes off before I have to go back to work :-) Naps with Calvin are the best. I know that they don't last forever, but I take them as long as I can have them :-)

      Enjoy your week, Lizzi!

  6. My husband is the back rubbing kind too. Though come to think of it, I haven't had many lately. Got to remind him. And Dunkin Donuts is the best. We have one in a larger town 25 minutes away -- I don't mind it at all when the kids ask to stop. Have a great week.

    1. I really miss the local doughnut store we had in the Seattle are. I once made hubby drive us 45 minutes one way to pick up a maple bar. The best maple bar ever!! Unfortunately, the DD here didn't have them, so I just had an iced coffee :-)

      Enjoy your week!!

  8. I love doughnuts! We don't have Dunkin Doughnuts anywhere near us, but I remember them fondly.
I've had a week where I was tired, too. I napped every day, but I didn't have Calvin to snuggle up with like lucky you!
Did Lily have to get stitches?
I'm picturing your husband in a turban and giggling...
    Happy Mother's Day, Stephanie!

    1. I still try to convince hubby to honor his Welsh heritage and get a kilt.. Not very successful so far...

Calvin naps are the best!! You should do it like Lizzi and go on a European blog tour.. I'd gladly lend you Calvin for a nap if you stopped by :-)

      Enjoy your week, Dyanne!!

  9. Living in a good community really is something to be grateful for. I can sleep at night with my windows and doors open without fear.

    1. I'm so sorry, Vanessa! In the town we live in, we hardly ever lock the door. It snaps shut, and that's it. And our neighbors here are indeed the best, even though we still miss our previous neighbors.

Have a wonderful week, and stay safe!

  10. hey! I did the grass thing this weekend too. Actually it was mowing the lawn barefooted (lol… what was that Christine? sorry, didn't quite hear that…lol)
but the most fundamental evidence of it not being winter is being barefoot in the outdoors.

    1. I hope the toes are still attached :-) My parents' neighbor once lost a few that way! And being outside barefoot definitely rocks!!

      Have a great week, Clark!
