Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (127)

Ten Things of Thankful

I didn't participate in the TToT last week. There were various reasons why, the most prominent being that I was just too tired and exhausted. This week I barely made it through Friday, and I don't expect next week to be any different. The dark season isn't for me any more, I suppose..  But this is in no way meant to be a whiny post, since it's all about being thankful and positive!

My Ten Thankfuls for these last two weeks!

1. Calvin being alright after his little accident and trip to the emergency room. Last Saturday, he fell and came up with a pretty bad cut on his forehead, so the girls were deposited at our neighbors' house and Richard and I took the little guy to the ER. He received excellent care, and we were out again within 30 minutes after arriving.

2. Our neighbors once again for taking in the girls and caring for them after I rang the door bell with a very bloody Calvin shortly after 6pm. With no family around, we'd be lost without our wonderful neighbors and friends nearby.

3. Finally finding some energy (and time) to organize little corners of chaos in our home. Everything feels much more peaceful right away.

4. The little wool store in Erlangen. Entering this little store just makes me so happy, and the owner is such a nice lady, always helping me with my questions and providing patterns for some projects I may be capable of.

5. Candles.

6. Waking up to the first snow. The girls were thrilled and Calvin positively confused.

7. Getting to buy up all of Lily's crafts at the seasonal fund-raiser at Lily's school (tying in with: candles!!!)

8. A hot shower at the end of a stressful day.

9. My mom's hoarding tendencies. Got a free ironing board out of it  :-)

10. Back-rubs from hubby!

Night-night, everyone!

  1. Glad Calvin's OK! That kind of stuff is always scary and stressful. I've missed a few weeks of TToT over the last month. And YES the dark season is not setting well with me this year at all. Must be a sign of aging... :D I don't care for the bright glaring sun of winter (gives me a headache) but dark by 5PM? No thanks.
Hope you get lots of sleep, lots of hot showers, and lots of back rubs! xo

    1. More snow this morning! And he was standing at the window to the patio, watching his sisters playing in the snow of the back yard..

  3. Hope you've had a relaxing weekend. The dark is HORRIBLE, but I'm glad you got a hot shower, a back rub, and to see Calvin wondering what to do with snow :)

  4. There really isn't anything better than a nice hot shower to end the day. I hope your weekend has been wonderful! :)

  5. Poor Calvin! Did he get stitches? Or glue? My son split his chin when he was about 8 and it was glued together.
I do love to watch snow falling, especially if I don't have to go anywhere, but it's just too soon for it!
I need to wrangle some chaos at my house over Christmas vacation!

    1. He was glued and then they put a few butterfly strips to hold the edges together. The strips fell off today and it looks much, much better than I have feared..

After not having much of a winter two years in a row, I'm actually excited to see snow falling right now ;-)

  6. Glad your little boy is okay and that you have neighbours you are able to depend on when you need them.
A hot shower is the best, especially when it is so cold outside.

    1. Thanks so much, Jen!! Calvin is fine again, and the scar looks very good. I'll get some ointment for it and hope that it will fade completely with time!

  9. Those 'little' corners always seem to have a big impact when they're tidied up don't they?

Neighbors, or at least the good neighbors can be such a blessing.

    1. Our neighbors are the best! Wouldn't know what to do without them in situations like that!

  10. Cal-vin! yo (not that it must not have been scary, but I suspect Calvin might have been thinking, 'hey it's just a little cut…. why are you driving so fast')
some weeks are better remembered than experienced
he'll have some excellent stories to tell the other kids at school

  11. My oldest son had several of those runs to the ER for stitches--and now he's applying to med schools! Hope Calvin heals up nicely and that you weren't too traumatized. (I think it is almost harder for the mom!)

    1. I also think it was harder on me than on him. The butterfly strips came off today and the cut actually looks really good. I'll get some ointment for scar treatment and hopefully it will fade completely..

  12. It can be frightening to the parents and to the child when those little accidents happen. Helpful neighbors are such a blessing. It is amazing how just a little bit of straightening and decluttering can bring a feeling of calm into a home. Years ago, we used to have a couple of stores here that sold mostly wool fabrics. I did a lot of sewing then, and loved seeing all the beautiful wood fabrics.
