I think you're right with your opinion on letting the kids know that there is always a chance for a good outcome and also to believe in the good in other people. We don't want them to grow up in a bubble, believing that the world is all candy cotton pink, but there is no need to confront them with the cruelty of survive or die that early on. I agree, they will have to find out early enough, and it will be heartbreaking to watch.Stephanie @ Life, Unexpectedlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11787379336749043051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3474956079411071497.post-62747279740987480982013-06-14T23:07:14.807-07:002013-06-14T23:07:14.807-07:00Well, I haven't had to tread this line just ye...Well, I haven't had to tread this line just yet, since our girls are still a little too young, but...I'm not sure. I don't want to let them know too much "real life" when they're still young. They have so many years to find out how hard and sometimes cruel life can be. I think your caterpillar answer was good because it not only let her think there was a chance for life to go on, but it also implied that there are other good people in the world who will take care of the small things in life. It's going to be a balancing act I suppose...Stephanie @ Life, Unexpectedlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11787379336749043051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3474956079411071497.post-72878277440481382342013-06-14T11:29:53.444-07:002013-06-14T11:29:53.444-07:00This is hard. That's what I want for my kids too. The "real world" stuff about evil is much harder. Being a Christian, I do have ways of explaining it that fit in with my faith but, even so, it's still hard!Susannahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10888956203263380230noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3474956079411071497.post-39096756488058838722013-06-13T13:12:45.445-07:002013-06-13T13:12:45.445-07:00Thanks, Jen!
