We're lucky to have two beautiful little girls, to live in a country where we have ready access to healthcare, a roof over our head, plenty of food, new clothes to wear, and social benefits should we ever need it. When Lily was 13 months old, she became very sick with a stomach bug. Without medical care, IVs, feeding tubes, and all that, she would have died without a question. And as I was there, standing by my little daughter while the medical staff fought for her life, I couldn't help thinking about all those mothers in other areas of the world, who would have had to watch their babies die in a similar situation. I couldn't bear the thought. Yes, sometimes I forget about all that, but I try to re-focus as often as possible.Stephanie @ Life, Unexpectedlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11787379336749043051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3474956079411071497.post-67646142678943689282013-07-09T14:57:16.841-07:002013-07-09T14:57:16.841-07:00I like you are appreciative of all you have consid...I like you are appreciative of all you have considering so many others don't. It's easy to take a lot of things for granted. I try to do my best to not complain about much. Most issues are very materialistic and in the end not very important.

I'd imagine you are exciting to finally have a start date on the house! Hope everything pieces itself together nicely.

I LOVE watermelon. Crooks does too! Whenever I buy watermelon and he smells it he starts freaking out. It's pretty funny.

I'm thankful I've not had to use aloe yet. Now... that may mean I haven't been out "enjoying" the sun enough, but who's to say. It happened once to me that I was driving home too late at night for it being Sunday evening. I was visiting someone with the girls and having brought cake and everything I soemhow expected to get at least a couple of sandwiches for the girls. Instead, I was heading home at night without a single store being open. For an hour the girls were sitting in the back crying because they were hungry, and I felt so helpless. I stopped at the first gas station I found (after an hour of driving) to buy them dinner. I don't even want to know what parents feel who have to send their kids to sleep hungry every single night, it must be pure torture..

My husband plays the bassoon, used to play in the Army band. My doc taped the foot up really well, so I'm actually not in pain any more, but I need to be careful with the swelling.Stephanie @ Life, Unexpectedlyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11787379336749043051noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3474956079411071497.post-69385695299615910512013-07-08T12:24:40.269-07:002013-07-08T12:24:40.269-07:00Thank you so much for stopping by!! Regarding the running, I think there's a little of column A and a little of column B involved.

I've been posting snippets of info on the house, mostly venting on all the obstacles so far. We'Re technically not building with our own hands but have contractors. We'll do some things on the inside, like painting and putting down flooring. Both hubby and I being not handy at all, with a full-time job and two young kids, we'd rather pay people to build us a house that will survive the first summer breeze than doing it ourselves.
