Calvin's Seventh Month

Our baby is growing up; it's becoming more and more obvious every day. Soon, he will stop being a baby and turn into a toddler, with nothing stopping him exploring the world beyond his vantage point on Daddy's or Mami's arm.

Early morning explorations (c) Life, Unexpectedly

His current stats:
Height: He's just over 28 inches tall now. Can't believe it!
Weight: I thought he'd be close to 20lbs, but he's 18lbs and 12oz. Still, no need to go to the gym if one totes this baby all day long!
Clothes size: 9 months, with some 12-months onesies thrown in.
Number of teeth: Still just tons of drooling and chewing on everthing, but no tooth in sight.
Biggest Milestone: He's been eating more foods; when I cook at night, I cook a little separate for him and puree it, so he eats basically whatever we eat as well. He's getting up on all fours and started to even get up on his feet on his 7-months birthday. He also stands up when I hold his hands.
Favorite food: still mommy's milk, but his favorite solid food by far is banana.
Favorite toy: A rattle my friend got him. He can roll it ahead and then follow it. And the crinkly book he inherited from Lily and Violet!
Favorite book: The big board books; they are perfect to teeth on!
Favorite outfit / piece of clothing: He still doesn't really care, and probably won't for a while, so it's my choice, and I absolutely love this mustache onesie his grandparents sent him. Absolutely cute!

Likes: exploring the living room rolling around and robbing forward; playing with his sisters; singing and being silly;
Dislikes: the sun shining in his eyes when out and about in the stroller; listening to a bunch of elementary-schoolers screeching and yelling during dance class; having his accessories to mischief removed from his reach.

Calvin's Fifth/Sixth Month

Yes, I know, I absolutely missed not just one but almost two months of documenting Calvin's development. What happened?? Life happened, sickness happened, anxiety happened, but blog posts did not happen. I am slowly getting back in the flow, and before our baby turns 7 months for good, here are his milestones for months 5 and 6:

Calvin's Fifth Month:

Height: Over 25in. Ever growing. Slow down, baby!!!!
Weight: Probably a good 16lbs. He's not a slight baby!!
Clothes size: 6-months, with a few 9-months clothes thrown in
Number of teeth: None yet, but he's been teething big time!
Biggest Milestone: This month was a big one! Celebrating his first Yule festival, which absolutely overwhelmed him, poor lad! He's also been doing complete roll-overs and has stayed up late to celebrate the new year. Even though he usually hates loud noises, he was so mesmerized by the lights of the fireworks that he didn't mind the noise at all. And he has eaten his first solids, a little bit of rice cereal in mommy's milk, and he loves it!

Favorite food: mommy's milk, sometimes with a little bit of rice!
Favorite toy: A croaking frog-toy, a little ducky that always gets up again and makes a ringing noise when kicked by little baby feet, and the stacking toys he got as a gift for Yule.
Favorite book: Whatever book he can get his hands on. This little guy loves to tear up paper  :-)
Favorite outfit / piece of clothing: He doesn't have a say, of course, so I say the cute bear hat he got from my parents' neigbors. It's beyond adorable!!

Likes: jumping, wriggling, cuddling, smiling, being loved by everyone, wrapping paper.
Dislikes: loud noises, stress, hustle-bustle around.

Calvin at 5 months old.

Calvin's Sixth Month:

Height: Not sure, but he's growing like a weed!
Weight: He is a big, strong boy, and toting him around all day, I'd say he's approaching 17lbs. But not sure, as we don't measure or weigh him at home and his next well-baby appointment isn't until early March.
Clothes size: He's solid into 9-months clothes, with a few 6-months still fitting;
Number of teeth: Still none in sight, but he's suffering greatly as those suckers are coming in!
Biggest Milestone: Getting to attend his first concert with Mami, eating veggies for the first time, and loving them!

Favorite food: mommy's milk, white carrot
Favorite toy: The play gym is gone, because Calvin kept kicking down the arches as soon as I have put them up. But he loves his new play blanket, his ducky, and of course his plush Animal-doll.
Favorite book: The Cinderella Glitter Book that Violet keeps "reading" to him. It's adorable!
Favorite outfit / piece of clothing: I love him wearing his new clothes he got for Yule, especially the little outfit with the checkered fleece body warmer, so adorable!!

Likes: Daddy's solos, exploring his surroundings, making new friends.
Dislikes: brass instruments, having his hair pulled by other babies.

Calvin at 6 months old,

Can't believe that half of his baby-year is over now, but I'm also excited to see the boy he's going to be!

Calvin's Fourth Month

I will not allow our little guy to turn 5 months (which will happen SUNDAY!!!!!) without posting all about "The Baby" in his fourth month!!!

Height: As of November 21 (well-baby appointment) he's just over 25in tall, even though I feel he's closer to 25.5 or 26in.
Weight: As of above appointment, he's 14.75lbs, lodged firmly at the 75th percentile for both height and weight. Our baby is growing up too quickly!!!
Clothes size: 6-months
Number of teeth: He's been teething since he's been 2 months old, but no teeth yet, just pints and pints of drool!
Biggest Milestone: Rolling from his tummy to his back as of November 16. Stop growing up so quickly, bubby!!!

Favorite food: mommy's milk
Favorite toy: The croaking frog-toy, and of course his activity gym. He now reaches for the little toys hanging off the arches.
Favorite book: The little fabric book he can teeth on, drool on, and abuse in any way he seems fit. Love me some hand-me-downs from big sisters  :-)
Favorite outfit / piece of clothing: He, of course, doesn't care, as long as I don't change him too much. I love him wearing an outfit my parents got him, or the funny frog sweater a friend of mine got for him.

Likes: playing, wriggling, cuddling, nursing, screaming at Daddy, being adored by his sisters, his grandparents, aunts, and everyone else, jumping on Mami's or Daddy's lap.
Dislikes: his sisters being scolded, not seeing Mami.

(I've noticed that this month, there will be no "growing Calvin" picture because we had to delete a corrupted folder off our camera's SD-card and they got lost; in exchange, I'll share a funny Calvin-in-a-Cup picture)

Calvin's Third Month

The careful reader will wonder: why Calvin's THIRD month? Shouldn't he be closer to 4 months old now??  Indeed, today is his 4-month birthday, but in between my grandfather's death, the funeral, the ensuing bout of depression on my end, and our daily chaos, I obviously missed to post his 3-month update.

Therefore, here are his stats and favorites during his third month of life:

Height: not sure, ever growing I'd say. He's outgrown his 3-month clothes and is now proudly wearing size 6 month.
Weight: the same here. He's probably gained another pound or so within the last month. I swear, I don't need a gym; carrying this boy around all day is all the arm-workout I need!!
Clothes size: Firmly lodged in 6-months clothes.
Number of teeth: none, but he's teething like a champ. Drool, drool, everywhere I look...
Biggest Milestone: He started laughing on November 2nd!!!

Favorite food: mommy's milk
Favorite toy: Still his activity gym. He's figured out to kick the arc to make a sound, so cute! He also likes the Muppets Animal doll he received as a gift from his aunt and uncle; fuzzy hair tickles!
Favorite book: Since Lily has learned reading, she's been reading children's books to him; I'd say he loves the book with the polar bear finger puppet that Lily's been reading to him.
Favorite outfit / piece of clothing: Calvin still doesn't really care. He loves the freedom of just wearing jammies, but hardly ever complains if I dress him in the morning. But he still hates putting on his jacket, no idea why..

Likes: cuddling, drooling, chewing on mommy's hand or a toy, smiling at his sisters, being carried (and oftentimes sleeping) in his Moby wrap.
Dislikes: bathing, mommy not paying attention to him for a minute, tummy-time, loud noises

Calvin at 3 months

Calvin's Second Month

Last Saturday, Calvin had his 2-month birthday. No, we did not celebrate it, but noted in disbelieve that another month had passed in no time. He continues to put on weight, and I'm looking forward to his next appointment in late November to see how much exactly he has grown. The newborn outfits are safely retired now, some have been passed on already, which is a weird feeling. So far, all the clothes were packed up and stored for the next baby, but there is no need any more to store clothes for more babies as none are in the planning. Maybe this is why I am so savoring every moment with our little guy.

Here are his current stats and favorites:

Height: at his last well-baby visit in September he was almost 23in tall, but I'd assume that he probably has grown another one or two inches since then.
Weight: in September, he weighed in at 11lbs even. Now, I'd say probably about 13lbs. Looking at the size/weight chart in his well-baby booklet, he was still at the 50th percentile for weight, but went from 50th percentile to 75th percentile in height.
Clothes size: He's wearing a few 3-months onesies still but is transitioning to 6-months clothes now.
Number of teeth: none yet, but we had the feeling that he was starting to teeth a little.

Favorite food: mommy's milk
Favorite toy: He loves his activity gym and a little tumbling ducky that I got as a hand-me-down from a very good friend when Lily was born.
Favorite book: he loves to listen when I read fairy tales to his sisters. And since they mostly choose the fairy tales from a girls' story book, I'd say he loves those.
Favorite outfit / piece of clothing: he still doesn't care. My favorite clothes for him are a striped fleece hooded sweater with bear ears on the hood and a hat with bear ears. Yes, I love those  :-)

Likes: cuddling, singing, getting his little toes tickled, getting warmed by the space heater, looking at toys dangling over his head, being adored by his sisters.
Dislikes: bathing, changing his clothes, having a tummy ache, mommy cooking/baking/doing homework with Lily (basically mommy doing anything that does not involve doting on baby Calvin).

Happy 2-months birthday, my little guy. And please stop growing already!!
