Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (38)

Ten Things of Thankful

I received a completely unexpected phone call today. I'm not ready yet to share any details yet, but hopefully soon. Besides that, this first half of my weekend was pretty uneventful, as planned after this week. I got to sleep plenty, and this annoying pony tail is finally off. Not quite as short as I had planned, but definitely better than before.

Ten more things to be thankful this week:

1. An unexpected and spontaneous couch date with the hubby on Thursday. As usual, I fell asleep, and when I woke up, I saw hubby watching me instead of Myth Busters, mentioning that he had already seen that episode, but it was always funny again to watch me fight sleep and losing.

2. Doing well answering to Lily's question: "Mami, there is no hole in the belly, how does the baby come out??"  At least, she's not freaked out about my response..

3. Carneval being over. I hate this so-called 5th season, and coem Ash Wednesday every year, I feel relieved that it's going to be almost another year until I'm tortured with horrible music and loads of drunk people again.

4. Hearing the hubby giggle from our bedroom. Tonight is game night for him, and two more of our friends in the U.S. have joined in. I'm so glad he still can play with this group of wonderful people, and that we do have the technological means nowadays.

5. Surviving the office move, and having a hubby and daughters considerate enough to let me collapse on the couch and nap for an hour right after getting home from work.

6. A lovely colleague who acts as my external hard-drive at the moment and calls me after I had completely forgotten an important appointment with HR and went shopping during my lunchbreak.

7. Another great colleague saving me from moving chaos and convincing me that an early lunch break in town is absolutely necessary.

8. Great cuddles with both Lily and Violet this evening. I had one little girl in each arm, while watching The Simpsons with them and letting them rubbing my tummy.

9. The beautiful weather during the last few days. The girls got to play at the playground in Erlangen today, after everyone got a hair cut and Lily's glasses were fixed.  Can't believe it's only early March and already so beautiful outside! On Friday, I even saw the first bushes starting to blossom. Hoping for an easter egg hunt outside this year!!

10. Lily being able to communicate her feelings better these days. She's been dealing with quite some mood-swings in the past weeks, and instead of letting us know what was going on she withdrew and moped quietly, which was stressful for her and us. This morning, when she was in one of her moods again, she walked up to me, saying that she was not feeling well and would rather be left alone and sleep a little more. And off she went, just to emerge as her usual happy self an hour later.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, everyone!

  1. tho our Winter is totally refusing to die, it is encouraging to hear that you are having something more resembling a normal Winter into Spring!

(also grateful that the security thing, on this Comment function, has decided that numbers are better than letters…which they are when it comes to typing them out, in order to submit the Comment).

    1. Actually, Clar, we had no winter to speak of. Basically, late fall turns into early spring.. I had no idea you had to type something out, never commented on my own stuff anonymous :-)

  2. A family that understands Mom's need for a nap is awesome, isn't it? Sometimes I feel so selfish taking one when those days happen, but I also know that on those days the nap keeps Mom from being a bear all evening!
Beautiful weather, playing outside, haircuts (we got them today, too), and snuggles are great.
Couch dates with husbands are great. Husbands that don't mind sleepy wives are also great.
    Have a terrific week!

    1. The girls were great, only waking me up every 20 minutes to switch the language of their cartoons to German :-) Love the couch dates with hubby, as this is mostly what we get.. I think hubby has gotten used to me falling asleep while watching movies on the couch with him :-) Hope you have a great new week, Lisa!

  3. Yay to the good weather, we too had 60 degrees and the first warm day of the year. Also, love when my girls cuddle with me and got a bit of that tonight, too, before they went to bed. Also, happy to hear that Lily is dealing with her emotions a bit better, too. Enjoy the rest of the weekend now :)

    1. The weather is so beautiful. I went running in a top and shorts on Sunday, imagine that :-) The weather is definitely very unusual for Germany in March. I'm glad you got good cuddles with your girls as well, there's nothing better than cuddles. Have a great new week, Janine!

  4. Ahhh I'm glad Lily's beginning to express herself better. That's gonna help everyone.

And YAY! for your colleagues. They sound awesome.

I'm so impressed that you don't resent your husband's time playing online with his buddies. You're a good wife :)

    1. I'm happy when hubby's happy, and since he enjoys playing Final Fantasy and I don't, I'm glad he has people to play with. My colleagues are really great, another reason why I love my work so much!

Hope you have a great new week, Lizzi!

  5. Glad the weather has been nice. Lily sounds mature, explaining how she was feeling. I often feel the same way!

    1. Lily's really doing a great job to express herself. We've been talking to her about talking to us when she doesn't feel well, otherwise we cannot find a way to make her feel better, and finally she's actually talking to us.

I hope you have a great week, Cyndy!

  6. Ah, those lovely pregnancy questions from little kids are always fun to answer, aren't they? ;)
Glad you are getting the naps you need, as well as time with your husband. Both are very important for an expecting mom.
Hope you have a great week!

    1. Thanks so much, Christine! I was surprised that she hasn't wondered how the baby actually got in there or out again. She still hasn't asked for hwo the baby got in there though - luckily :-)

      Have a great week, Christine!

  7. Oh, don't you just love the questions kids ask?! I'm sure you handled it well. Glad that the office move is over and hope things lighten up a little but it is good that your family understands the need to collapse for a few. I have to do that and it always helps.

    1. They have all been so supportive. I'm really a lucky girl.. I'm actually surprised that she only asked how the baby would get out, and not how it got in there to begin with, Sandy.. Wonder when this is coming :-)

      Enjoy your week!!

    1. Couch dates are mostly what we get these days, so we enjoy those to the max, even though I fall asleep during most dates, for whatever reason.

      Have a great week!
