Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful Gone Renegade Edition
Somehow it felt weird not having a TToT link-up this week. Or next. This is the time when many things happen, spontaneous, unexpected, happy things that I am incredibly happy for. And just as I was sitting there, I found that the link-up is not so much at pause as I thought...
This week, I am very thankful for:
1. Lizzi, for creating this link-up, even when she's not only in a bad place, but broke through rock bottom and is sitting at the bottom of a 50ft crap pit. You are an inspiration in your strength to continue, to set one foot in front of the next, no matter how strong the wind is blowing. I am thankful to know you, Lizzi!
(now to the more trivial but still important thankfuls this week)
2. The bus driver handing out little chocolate Santas this Friday morning. Oh my goodnes, it SO made my day!!
3. Lily not only bringing home a beautiful heart-shaped wire ornament but also inspired me to finally take down the fall / Halloween decoration from our front door and craft some paper snowflakes with ther and Violet.
4. A spontaneous dinner with our neighbors tonight. So unexpected but fun!
5. "Nightmare Before Christmas" on TV
6. No pre-holiday stress, no waiting in line at the stores on Monday.
7. Plenty of vacation time, and colleagues who are willing to come to work so I can spend almost 2 weeks straight at home.
8. Somehow managing to take the high road in a situation that simply infuriated me. I don't know how I managed, but I did..
9. Cuddling with the girls on the couch, reading good-night stories.
10. More small translation jobs, with a prospect of regular work in the foreseeable future. It's great to be able to translate again, and for being paid for it!
Wishing everyone a relaxing weekend!

she is pretty amazing (our Ms. Lizzi)
ReplyDeleteas much as I know that everyone enjoys the holidays, you can't help to sense the beginnings of a sense of relief that it is almost here (and therefore, almost over). A lot of pressure for many people.
but… But!!! today? you do know what day today is, right?*
lol for me and my very strained relationship with Winter, today, 12.21.13 is the first day of Summer (sort of…the days are now getting longer which, for me makes all the difference).
Have a good holiday.
We are having a Sunday Video brunch tomorrow morning, if you are able to stop in, I know that lizzi and michelle and everyone would be delighted… 9:30 EST on google hangout (I send you an invite at the time, just in case)
* no, you are a normal person, I would not expect and an or more than a smile of..'oh, how nice!'
Haha, you called me a "normal" person :-) I know, longest night of the week, the beginning of winter is actually the beginning of the light season as summer is the beginning of the dark season.. weird..
DeleteNow the big question: How do I retrieve the invite and how do I join the brunch? I've seriously and honestly tried to join once, and it was a mess.. Wouldn't Skype be much easier? At least for a Hangout-illiterate like me??
Stephanie....go to your own google pg and the invite will be there...I can also get it on my email pg when I hit g plus icon on top right.
DeleteI often have to follow a prompt to reinstall the hangout app. It only takes a few seconnds...then hit the little green quotation mark and scroll down to "join hangout" hope that helps.
I don't think I have a g-mail account ?!? You see, I'm clueless :-) I've tried to participate once, and when I got stuck at the g-mail account, I gave up... I'll try to add you on G+ (have to admit, never use it..) Lizzi: What time is the hang-out your time?
DeleteOK, so clearly I don't know you so I don't know how difficult it was for you to take the high road in the difficult situation you mentioned..but if you are like me, that was AH-MAZING on your part. That could be all ten things of thankful right there! Glad you had 9 other things to include...sounds like a great week, for sure.
ReplyDeleteIt was quite difficult actually. I can't stand this person to begin with, which increases my general bitch-level when dealing with them. Additionally, I felt REALLY cheated by that person at our girls' expense, which turns me brom bitch-level to "hear that lioness roar"-level. But I've found my calm again, somewhat..
DeleteHope you have a wonderful holiday, Mrs. AR!!
Hi, congrats on the jobs. Sorry, can't join the brunch. I have church tomorrow. I am hoping my daughter plays a Christmas song on the piano for the offering. I will tape, I hope. Wow, I don't feel so bad. My Christmas decorations didn't make it out of the boxes, but at lease I have a decorated tree. Nice to meet you by the way on the hop. Have a Merry Christmas this week.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Mary! It's great to finally work gainfully at the job I've wanted to do a long time ago. My mom will be so proud :-)
DeleteHow was your daughter's recital?? Our Lily sang a solo at a kindergarten thing a few weeks ago, it made me SO proud!
Enjoy decorating, Mary!!
the hangout seems to have the best capacity for multiple callers… we seem to be around 6 people these days.
ReplyDeleteif you're on the Facebook, wouldn't hurt to have that on… (I'm listed as clark scottroger friend me if not already and if it gets dicey you can IM me)
open your google+ which will have the hangout in it (that you have already installed in your computer) and watch for an invite to show up about 'your:30' not sure how many hours ahead you are, I am in EST so I will send out invites at 9:30 am.
should be alright… worse comes to worse…watch this Post for a comment, if I can't reach you any other way.
will be fun
I'll add you in FB, and then participate that way, if the Hang-Out fails me again! :-)
DeleteTotally hoping you are having a relaxing weekend. I was sick during the week and then we were having electrical work done. So was without power off and on for a few days. So, was using my phone to try to keep up. But now I need to get my butt in gear wrapping, baking and stuff, so I probably won't be on as much as usual for the next few days, but just wanted to wish you a very, Merry Christmas now :)
ReplyDeleteOh no! Being sick during the holiday season sucks even more than normal! Hope your power is back on, and you're feeling better, Janine!
DeleteWishing you and your beautiful family a very Happy Holiday!!
All awesome things to be grateful for. Thanks for sharing with us!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Michelle! Have a very Happy Holiday!
DeleteProud of you for taking the high road- I'm not always as capable of doing so! And wish MY bus driver had handed out chocolate- what a treat!
ReplyDeleteI'm usually not good at it either, especially since it affected our girls, and that usually turns me into a lioness extra-ordinaire. But since I would have been the "horrible person" again, there was almost no other way to get out of that.
DeleteIt was one of the very nice bus drivers who handed out the chocolate, and he so made my day! I bet he improved the day of many people :-)
Well, I don't always have the same bus driver, but that one is one of the very nice ones :-)
ReplyDeleteYou were definitely about to be missed, glad you decided to do the "in between the holidays" version :-)
Thinking about you these coming days!!
