Yes, it's true. The Winter Holidays (however you may call it) is approaching again. I started shopping early this year, wrapping m first presents during our visit with the in-laws in the U.S. in May. Luckily, I've not been in the holiday mood since early summer, like last year. I am just about getting started with the true fall mood, looking forward to Thanksgiving and the first German holiday bread (aka Stollen) on Sunday after Thanksgiving. Why do I love the second half of the year more than the first? Holiday flavors, weekends cuddling on the couch, a house warmed by cookies baking in the oven, first colorful then white landscapes, cocooning and listening to what's inside, spending lots of time with family and friends. This is why!

I can't believe how fast time is flying by! It's crazy to me. :)
ReplyDeleteIt totally is, Jen! I hope you two will be firmly settled in your new home for the holidays!
DeleteI'm an early shopper too and I live for the winter holidays, especially Christmas. Summer holds no appeal to me what-so-ever, it's just this hot stretch of time I must endure until my beloved snow falls. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, I love a few warm weeks, adn generally, I prefer the moderate seasons, but definitely looking forward to winter and all the goodness that happens towards the end of the year :-)
DeleteYAYAYAYAYAY!!!! I love all the Holidays that come with the Winter - Thanksgiving and Christmas being my favorite, of course! :-)
ReplyDeleteAnd this year, the time around Thanksgiving will be extra-special for you :-) Enjoy the approaching season, Susannah!
DeleteI can't say I'm ready for the fall and winter holidays to be upon us, but I do love the last part of the year much more than the first, too!
ReplyDeleteSame here, Lisa! I'm slowly getting into the mood, just the way it should be. For now, we're excited for Halloween :-)
DeleteI can't wait! Especially thus year bc I think AJ really gets it!
ReplyDeleteWith the two kids, it will be so much more special!! I'm sure AJ will have the best time. The holiday is all about watchign the kids being excited. I wouldn't mind not getting a single present, as long as I get to watch the kids :-)
DeleteWonderful reasons and I agree I do very much love the holidays even if I am a summer (warm weather) lover, as the celebrating and family gets me every time :)
ReplyDeleteThe same here, Janine! Especially that it's the first Yule after my sister and I reconciled, so we're all going to get together at my parents' house again and have tons of fun :-)
