Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (87)

Ten Things of Thankful

I have a valid excuse for having been absent all week - yet again. It's been a busy week, and I can't believe how lucky I am having the hubby I have who supports and loves me even if I'm a stressed-out, sleep-deprived, nagging zombie who doesn't do laundry and - according to him - kicks him out of the bed at night.

More thankfuls for this week:

1. Completing a big project without hubby filing for divorce while I'm buried over my head in the topic of options trade.

2. Lily bringing home a wonderful first report card. I am so proud of our girl!

3. Two of my favorite things (coffee and red wine) combined: South African Coffee Pinotage. Who ever was the genius who put this wonderful wine into smoked oak barrels: THANK YOU!!

4. Calvin sleeping better. Even though my nights were late nights, at least I got some good sleep 5 out of 7 nights (let's not talk about the other two!)

5. A wonderful lunch with my friend. Hint: if you can, get yourself an Indian friend. All of her cooking is just so out of this world delicious!

6. My new diaper bag. I would have never spent that much money on a diaper bag, but was lucky enough to be chosen as a product tester. I love everything about this bag!!

7. Cuddles in the couch with the kids. As most of us feel under the weather due to lack of sleep and/or being sick, snuggling up under a bunch of blankets in the couch, watching Tom and Jerry cartoons just cannot be beat!

8. The fact that hubby and I are on one page about boycotting Valentine's Day. We don't need to spend money to show each other our love. It's the small things every single day, from a small box of chocolates under my pillow to a book I find in the book store for him. From him letting me sleep another hour after a bad night to me making him coffee.  To us, every day is Valentine's!

9. A great afternoon with my sister, her family, our parents and some of her friends celebrating my niece's birthday.

10. All the encouraging comments regarding my somewhat leave of absence. I will get back in the flow eventually, I promise!

Have a wonderful new week, everyone!!

  1. Awww I think I definitely like #7 best, followed by #8. I hope you get more sleep though - that can NEVER go amiss. I was going to write, but I might just turn in! Am feeling pretty sleepy myself!

    1. That's me most days. Once I'm done with my stuff for the day, I'm just done and can't motivate myself to write any more, even if I could muster the brain power to come up with something remotely interesting to say...

Hope you have a wonderful week, Lizzi!!

  2. I also love #8 - that's kind of how we do it here, too. Although the Hub floored me when he came home from the supermarket with a bunch of flowers. He NEVER does that. Can't deny they were sweet and I love that he can still surprise me every now and then. Even if I do kick him out of bed (which I also do often) because he snores like a truck with a muffler problem.
I am definitely checking out that coffee plus red wine thing...hang on. OK I'm back and OMG. I need to get some of that pronto. The site does not give me a clear idea how I can purchase, so I will have to go dig more later. My goodness that looks amazing!
Cuddles on the couch on a lazy not feeling so great day is wonderful.
I miss seeing you around, but I'm glad you're doing what you need to do. And here's hoping you continue to have more good sleep nights than bad ones!

    1. How sweet of your hubby, Lisa! Surprises are the best!

I hope you can get yourself some of this Coffee Pinotage! Since it's a special at the store we shop, I think about just buying the remaining bottles and risk looking like an alcoholic :-)

Cuddles are the best, and I enjoy every second of it!!

Enjoy your wine, and time with this wonderful family of yours!!

  3. hey! cool on the good first report card, (not that I have had any experience of that type), but it surely helps seeing 'As' as being normal, as opposed to extraordinary.
sleep is not, in and of itself, a bad thing… especially in sufficient quantities… good of the boy-child to help you make the most of the time you have!

    1. The kids don't get graded report cards in first and second grade here yet, but it's comment on their behavior in class, their interaction with teachers and their fellow students, and their performance in the individual subjects. I'd think that the comments would translate mostly into "As" and "Bs" though.

Gonna go now and see how much sleep the boy-child bestowes on me tonight :-)

  5. Sleep, glorious sleep! I think the hardest thing for me when my kids were babies was trying to function with not enough sleep. I'm so glad for you that you were able to get some shut-eye!

    1. I know, this is very hard as well. I sure am not the mom I want to be when I don't have enough sleep. But luckily, hubby and I are taking turns and trying to schedule in naps so we are not completely losing our minds :-)

  6. Glad you got that big project done. Probably not as happy as your husband, but happy. :)

Glad you are getting some sleep. Lack of it makes everything difficult. Hope that trend continues for you.

My kids like Tom and Jerry, too. It was a popular choice even when I was a kid.

    1. Tom and Jerry is awesome! I remember watching it with Lily back in the days when she was a toddler. She was standing in front of the TV and "no-no"ed Tom and Jerry whenever they were not nice, so basically all the time :-)

Believe me, I'm happy the project is done as well... It ended up a major pain in the rear, but it's over now :-)

Have a wonderful weekend, Christine! I'm off to sleep!

  7. I am with you on #8. We don't play the made up holiday game. Although flowers are always lovely, as long as they didn't cost a lot!

    1. I'm actually more happy with a night cuddled up on the couch with some yummie tiramisu than flowers. One year, the girls and I made paper flowers for hubby; he liked that a lot! How wonderful that you had a great, commerce-free day!

  8. I was so ready to get on the consistent blogging page only to be sidetracked by life and work. I love Valentine's Day, but this year, I was just not in the mood. Not sure why. Have a wonderful week to you too!

    1. I know, sometimes I'm not in the mood for things like birthdays (generally mine) or other holidays. We keep our V-Day commerce-free, sometimes I put in some efforts to make heart-shaped pizza, this year we just cuddled up on the couch with a movie and a dessert. Perfect for me!

  9. I love your list, Stephanie! I think doing a big project with your husband that didn't end up in divorce is HUGE :)
Good for Lily for that report card!
Sweet Calvin! I won't even ask about those 2 out of 7 nights when he's not a sleeper.
An awesome diaper bag is not to be underestimated.
Cuddle those kiddos while you can! They get big and bony and think they're too old before you know it.
    Valentine's Day is stupid.
    Family time is not.
Have a wonderful week, Stephanie! Smoochies for Calvin!

    1. It was actually my project, but since I spent about every free minute on the computer trying to get it finished, hubby was grossly neglected for a week. I'm so thankful he took care of the kids and was content being married to a zombie-like creature for a week :-)

We are very proud of Lily for this report card. And she was properly rewarded with a book she got to pick :-)

Oh, I do my best to cuddle those kids. One morning this week, Lily came into my bed and we got some good cuddle time in. I'm thankful that she still cuddles with her mom!!

Valentine's Day is stupid. But movie dates on the couch with a super-sized dessert to share is awesome!!

      Have a great weekend, Dyanne!!
