Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (60)

Ten Things of Thankful

Obviously, I've missed a whole 10 weeks! Ten weeks without my weekly reflections on the big and small things that have made my life so much better, or made me realize that no matter what, I'm still luckier than most people in this world. Yes, I'm glad to be back!!

Here is the list of Thankfuls for this first full week of August:

1. The weather has neither been crazy hot nor crazy humid, making my life a whole lot easier.

2. Almost daily naps. Yes, I'm really thankful for maternity laws here in Germany, and the fact that hubby is so supportive and the girls very understaning so I can rest whenever I need to.

3. Finding my calm again after being quite antsy about little baby boy's arrival earlier this week. Our OB/GYN  estimated him to come about 5 to 10 days early, based on the progress my body has made so far, but even now, EDD -4 days, there are no real tell-tale signs that he's about to show up. There have been some early signs in the past days, but as of now, he's still happily camping out in there. But at least, we're prepared, all bags are packed, my sister and dad are on call, and all the plans we've made for the next days are on a "may be canceled o short notice"-basis.

4. Hubby cat-sitting for friends of ours. The story he comes home with almost every day are priceless! Can't wait to add a little four-legged member to our family later this year!

5. Early mornings with Violet. I truly enjoy just sitting with my little girl, have breakfast, play some games and cuddle before anyone else gets up.

6. Not having had proper internet for a while. I got tons of projects done, caught up on movies, etc.

7. Having proper internet again. I missed everyone out there and wondered a lot how this or that person was doing. I'm glad to be back!

8. The smell of oatmeal chocolate chip cookies baking in the oven. Finally found time to kill all the chocolate bunnies left over and turned them into a new form of deliciousness.

9. Having a good night sleep a couple of times this week. It really makes a difference on my overall well-being  :-)

10. A career option coming up for hubby we never even thought about. It's not quite what we wanted as it would be on a free-lance basis / running his own business, so there aren't any benefits, but on the other hand, he'd be very, very flexible with his hours, which will come in handy managing three kids after I go back to work almost full-time come September 2015.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!

  1. Thanks so much, Lizzi! It's really a special time for Violet and me, and I think she enjoys it just as much :-) We really, really hope that the career option works out for Richard, it would be so good for our family on so many levels. Have a great weekend!!

    1. Thanks so much, Janine! I'm really happy to be back, believe me! This past week has been so amazing, having our little guy home with us; we were so busy cuddling him that I wasn't online much though.. :-)

  3. So nice to hear about your hubby's job. :) Oh my! Oatmeal chocolate chip? I can even begin to express how yummy that sounds. I can only imagine how wonderful those mornings must be with your baby girl. I keep reminding myself to cherish all the time I have with my little guy alone since that will change once our new baby comes.

    1. Those mornings were definitely special, but I'm sure that days like that come again once Calvin is a little older; Violet is a notorious early riser, and Calvin seems to be a good sleeper :-) Enjoy your pregnancy and the last months with your son as an only-child!

  4. You are in my very favorite time of pregnancy. Each day waking up wondering if today is the day...so exciting!! I'm just waiting to see in my reader a post about a new baby boy.

Glad you're getting some sleep. It does make a world of difference.

    1. Thanks a lot, Christine! Actually, the last weeks were an ordeal for me, as my liver cholestasis came back with a vengence, and I'm so glad that he's here now! And indeed, sleep makes such a difference :-)

  5. This takes me back so far to the days when my family was so young and still forming really. These days are so precious and so fleeting. Add to the swiftness of time the inability to fully focus that comes of sleep deprivation and the memories become very fluid and gauzy. Treasures, these days, treasures.~May

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by, May! I definitely notice that I take every moment in with Calvin right now, as most likely he'll be our last baby; weird feeling, somehow :-) Luckily, he's a good good sleeper and sleep deprivation is not a big issue for us so far *knocking on wood*

    1. Thanks so much, Sandy! Yes, my Telecom-caused hiatus was quite a bit longer than we'd thought, but glad that eventually they came around! Happy to be back and to be able to follow up with what had happened with everyone in the past two months :-)

    1. Thanks so much, Lizzy! I couldn't wait for the pregnancy to be over; I was so miserable with the liver cholastasis. But we're all doing well now, thank you so much for your well-wishes and thoughts!

  8. Well, I am envious of your German maternity laws. Not nearly so generous here in America. I am glad you are getting some rest and some chocolate treats as you approach the big day!

  10. Forgive me for focusing on # 8 but they sure would go down nice right about now with a big ole glass of skim milk. lol
Many changes on your horizon...may they all be everything you could hope for:)
Is Violet excited about having a new brother?
Career options? Always good to have options:)
Be well and I hope baby boy arrives soon!

    1. I'm more for the low-fat version, but milk and cookies, yommie!!

So far, all the changes have been very positive; baby Calvin has arrived savely, and Violet loves being a big sister now, too! Now only hubby's career option needs to work out, and I really, really hope it does!

Thank you so much for stopping by!!

  11. So many exciting things brewing there! I am particularly intrigued by your husband's job potential. Can't wait to see how that develops!

  12. Stephanie's back! And may have a baby boy on the outside instead of the inside by the time I finally have gotten to read all the TToT this week! Well...?
I hope you're enjoying the new house. And that you are managing to get plenty of naps and even a few good nights of sleep.
You still have chocolate bunnies?! Never would have happened at my house!
Good luck to your husband on his new career plan, should he choose to go with it.

    1. Thanks so much, Dyanne! We love the new house, the only issue now is having the furniture for the girls' rooms delivered. 50% over delivery schedule is ridiculous! Chocolate bunnies present in August just prove that the girls are way too spoiled by Oma :-) Thanks for your well-wishes for hubby! We definitely need all the support we can get!
