Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (62)
Blink. Week over. Yes, I totally stole this from Dyanne, but it's the best to describe this week; and it makes me panic just a tad bit because Calvin is now another week older, and before I know it, our baby won't be a baby any more. And then Lily is graduating, and Violet will move out, and ... I know, I'm getting a little bit ahead of myself now, but still...
Back to the 10 things I am incredibly thankful for this week:
1. Lily enjoying her vaulting class. She looked so natural performing her excercises on the horse, and we're happy to have a holiday gift of more classes for her.
2. Violet being happy spending the mornings home with us while Lily was at her riding class. We played games, did jigsaw puzzles, or read stories.
3. Sleeping through the night. Besides waking up once around 6, Calvin and I slept in until 10:30 in the morning. I so needed that!
4. Cooking dinner with the girls. Lily wanted to make a carrot soup from one of her books for a few days now, and tonight we finally got to it, and it was delicious!
5. Growing closer to hubby with each of the kids. Even though with another baby in the house, there's even less time for just the two of us, but we enjoy even the short moments much more than before we had kids. And seeing him with his children just makes my heart want to burst with love for all of them.
6. My mom and aunt coming over to meet baby Calvin. I haven't seen my aunt in quite a while and we all spent a fun afternoon.
7. Not being confined any more. We went and visited my sister on Monday and went into town for a shopping trip later in the week, enjoying what would be probably the last ic cream outside for the season :-(
8. Having a tea party with the girls. Lily and Violet prepared coffee and pancakes and set the table in Violet's room. SO cute!!!
9. Going out. A colleague had invited me to a traditional German pre-wedding party and I attended with Calvin. It was great getting out of the house, connecting with some colleagues, eat yummie food, and show our adorable little boy around :-)
10. A hubby who shares the household chores without complaining. And he even does a really good job :-) Yes, I know I'm lucky! We have a clean house now!!!
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Fun times with the kids is the way to go!!! Glad that you are having a great time!
ReplyDeleteWe certainly do, Michelle! Thank you so much for stopping by! Have a great new week!
DeleteYay for getting to sleep in!! :)
ReplyDeleteAfter having Violet, who's a terrible sleeper, I think we earned him :-) Have a great new week, Jen!
DeleteA tea party with the girls sounds like so much fun!!
ReplyDeleteThey were so adorable, putting on a plate just for me since I was actually late for the party. But I still got my coffee, crackers, and pancakes :-) Maybe I should make them hot chocolate for breakfast tomorrow as a thank you! Thank you for stopping by, Laura, and have a great week!
DeleteWhat a lovely week you've had! Calvin seems to be easy going and all of you are adapting to having that little fellow join your family! It's hard to believe that it won't be long before it will be too cold to eat ice cream outside, but at least fall is a beautiful time of the year!
ReplyDeleteI love fall, but Lily is sad that summer's ending; and little princess Violet is sad that her summer dresses are being packed away :-) Calvin is just the sweetest little guy, we're all so happy to have him with us! I hope you have a great new week, Dyanne!
DeleteThis is a great list! Congrats on the new baby! I think the last time I was here you all were at the end of the pregnancy. Was that last week? Maybe? Hehe. I definitely can see how you would cherish that individual time so much with each of the kids and hubby and just hubby alone. Good stuff! Tea parties with little girls sounds fun!
ReplyDeleteLast week was actually the "all about baby" TToT, Brittnei :-) He arrived on the 11th. I spent quite some time with Lily tonight, cuddling her in bed before it was time to sleep. Can't believe that our oldest is starting first grade in only a few weeks. The tea party was so much fun, the girls thought about everything, they are great hostesses :-) I hope you have a wonderful new week!
Delete….hey, Calvin and I were out driving around Wakefield last night and he said to tell you that he would be home in the morning, there was this girl at URI, (University of Rhode Island near Wakefield) that he wanted to visit.
ReplyDeleteha ha
I think that's one of those joke better told, than written… cause there's so much time, "what? Calvins right here! of course he's not driving around Wakefield, because he's here… oh that was a time flies joke!"
time totally does fly.
I think I need another nap before I get that joke, Clark :-) Feeling totally brain-dead most of the time. But driving around Rhode Island sounds great; are you starting into fall already or is summer still in full blast across the pond? I hope you have a great start into this new week, Clark!
DeleteIt totally is, Lizzi :-) Usually, when I need to get a cake done quickly, I'll do it myself, because baking or cooking with the girls is more messy, even though Lily keeps insisting that a helping hand (hers, of course) will speed things up. For the soup I gave each of them a carrot to chop and did the rest myself :-) I love having such a great partner on my side and really appreciate his support! Have a great new week, Lizzi!
ReplyDeleteYou and Calvin slept until 10:30?? Wow. That's ridiculously impressive.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to get out of the house a bit this week. I'm sad for you that ice cream season is coming to an end. It has been 90 degrees this weekend, so we still have some time.
I do like to have my kids helping me in the kitchen. It doesn't happen nearly as much as it used to, now that they are all growing into teenagers. Although, since they did cook with me when they were younger, they can cook FOR me now. They did a whole bunch of the cooking when I was down with my knee injury this summer.
I couldn't believe it either when I looked at the clock, but the little cuddle bug is definitely a great sleeper when he's sleeping with me :-) The girls were lucky tonight and daddy let them have ice cream for dessert, but I wonder whether we'll have ice cream at our favorite place in Erlangen again this year. Having the girls "help" in the kitchen usually means more work for me right now, but I love spending the time with them and support their helping out. And they tend to eat food they usually don't like if they get to prepare it themselves :-) Glad that your kids helped out so well while you were out!
DeleteGetting sleep is so nice! Glad you are well-rested. :-)
ReplyDeleteI certainly was, Kristi! Tomorrow, Violet starts kindergarten again, so no more sleeping in on week days for us :-(
DeleteIt certainly seems like little Calvin is just settling himself in quite nicely. Isn't it a lovely bonus when you get a good sleeper? My son was awful! He was reversed for a the first few months, slept all day and up half the night. It was exhausting!
ReplyDeleteIt also seems like your family is happy and healthy and doing really well. You've had a wonderful week, Stephanie!
The first few days all Calvin did was sleep :-) Violet was an awful sleeper, too, so I definitely think we earned a good sleeper! We're definitely all doing well, having settled in well with the new family member. Thanks so much, Sandy!
DeleteWhat a lovely list of thankfuls!! Isn't it amazing how much closer you feel with your hubs when you have kids? I love that he helps with chores too! So glad you got to take flight and enjoy some fun with colleagues and show off your babe!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Chris! I'm always happy to show off the baby, he's too adorable :-) I hope you're having a great week!
DeleteWhat a great list - tea parties and sleeping babies and a helpful husband. What more could a girl want!?
ReplyDeleteI'm totally content, Lisa :-)
