Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (81)

Ten Things of Thankful

I can't believe that it's 2015. Where did 2014 go?  The whole year just flew by, with all the excitements and changes it brought in our lives. Even though the changes were clearly positive, I am hoping for a more quiet 2015!

Here are the ten things I'm most thankful for in this past week:

1. Good old family board game afternoons.

2. Naps that just sneaked up on my while cuddling on the couch with Calvin.

3. A fun outing with the kids and my best friend to the planetarium.

4. Having my best friend. We are a lot alike and know each other so well it leads to funny situations like getting each other the same little present for the holidays.

5. Mornings of Lily reading to her little siblings.

6. A wonderful family doctor / PCP. He takes a holistic approach to health, using alternative options before prescribing the chemical club. I went to see him this week for my back pain, and besides the obvious tense muscles, I oviously have a spinal deformity. Instead of simply giving me pain meds, he's referred me to a physical therapist to work on the issues in a long-term scope.

7. Home-made cinnamon rolls. I walked by IKEA the other day and smelled their cinnamon rolls there. I couldn't get the smell out of my head and therefore used the cube of yeast I had in the fridge to make my own. Simply delicious!

8. Having another close friend move closer to us into her own home. Hubby helped moving today, and I'm thankful that the weather held just long enough for him to return safe and sound. Can't wait to visit my friend at her new home!

9. The extra 30 minutes of sleep I requested after a pretty restless night with Calvin and Violet in my bed turning into 1.5 hours. I felt so, so refreshed afterwards!

10. A great New Year's celebration with friends. Tons of delicious food, fun company, and a baby who's looking up to the sky in amazement watching the firework, ignoring the noise as if it wasn't there!

10-1/2. A package from Alaska arriving  :-)

What are you thankful for during this first week of 2015???

    1. Thanks so much, Lisa!!I don't have many pictures of me with all three kids, because I usually take the pictures and I'm horrible at taking selfies :-) It's actually quite easy to make those cinnamon rolls. I'll share the recipe!

  4. Oh my Home made cinnamon rolls I am there.

I love that your doctor prescribes less chemical approaches. The time between seeing improvement from physical therapy....use ginger and turmeric. It does wonders for me. Muscle and joint pain both kinds of pain relieved. play around with the ratio to see what works for you.

    Great pics too!!!

    1. Thanks so much for the recommendation! Do you take those as tea or ground? Which ratio works best for you, and in which doses? So far I've taken the "suck it up" approach, but it's definitely wearing on me, and Lily wants to play "Twister" :-)

    1. Well, I think Lily's reading at least provided the appropriate background noise for his playing :-)

  7. *does a cough which sounds suspiciously like "RECIPE!"*

You have some truly lovely things on your list, and I LOVE that you have such a close friend you bought each other the same gift for the holidays.

LOVE that Lily reads to Violet and Calvin, and most especially of all that your morning snuggle was so long and refreshing :) Happy New year

    1. Happy New Year to you as well, Lizzi!! I'll sure share the recipe, it's SOOOOO easy!

My best friend and I know each other since 5th grade and have been friends since 8th grade.. Seems like forever. We don't see each other very often, we don't talk on the phone very often, but exchange emails a lot and try to fit in a meeting whenever it fits our schedules. I'm truly thankful for having her in our lives!

Hubby IS the best for letting me sleep in :-)

I hope you had a great and glitterful week :-)

    1. I hope your little guy is doing better again. Luckily, no-one's sick at our house right now, but Calvin has been not sleeping for the last few nights and I was pretty exhausted. Nevertheless, I had a great week! I hope you have a wonderful weekend, Kristi!

  10. I LOOOOOVE the picture of your little crew! What sweet faces! And I just want to eat Calvin up! This is such a great list, Stephanie! Time spent with friends is time well spent! (My best friend and I are playing a game of Trivia Crack that just won't end. She keeps challenging me, and we give all the same answers - even the same WRONG answers, so I know what it's like to have someone know you as well as you and your friend and the same gifts!) I love that you smelled cinnamon rolls and just went home and made some! You need to try my new trick: make one giant cinnamon roll (by cutting the dough into strips) in a pie pan. I can get two cinnamon roll cakes out of one batch of roll dough. It is so much better than individual rolls!
    Have a wonderful week!

    1. I need to try THAT!!! A pie-pan-sized cinnamon roll... I made the dough myself, baked a whole bunch on a baking sheet and fit 8 in a pie pan. But I totally could do a huge cinnamon roll.. Maybe I can make one for one of the girls' birthdays, too... Ohhhh, the possibilities :-)

We indeed managed to have a bunch of sweeties here... I could watch the kids in their sleep forever.. So peaceful and QUIET :-) Am I a weirdo??

  11. Ahh look at you! Love the photos of everyone. I'm glad you had a great week and I know exactly what you mean with those naps. When hubby is home I will randomly do the same and it feels amazing!

    1. Thanks a lot, Brittnei! When I was working, I would sneak in a small 20-min nap while watching The Simpson's with the girls in the evening to gear up for the bath/bed-time routine. Just the perfect amount of sleep. Today, my 1-hour afternoon nap was definitely not enough, and leaving the bed while the baby was still sleeping was hard!
