Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (34)

Ten Things of Thankful

This last week was hard; I don't know how I would have made it through without having an afternoon of sleeping on Wednesday. And while today was crazy busy again, I'm looking forward to a whole lot of nothing on the couch (the Winter Olympics have started after all).  But despite the stress, there were plenty of things to be thankful fordurng those past days.

1. Having survived a birthday party with a good handful of over-excited 5 to 6-year olds. It was loud, it was crazy, and wild, but everyone had a blast. And that's what counts.

2. Lily passing her school entrance examination. She did awesome, exclaiming at the end that is was so baby-easy. Little snotter  :-)

3. Hubby being so patient with me, being a hormonal, always at the edge of a tantrum mess.

4. Vegetable soup.

5. Having been able to follow through with my resolution for 2014 and shaved my legs every single day this year so far.

6. The potential for an unexpected time off in a week. Need to get rid of those 15 days of 2013 vacation somehow.

7. Hubby came home from airing out the house and announced that it finally, FINALLY seems as if we had power at our house!! All the cord are hooked up and he heard a humming from the power box. So I'll notify out building site manager and see where we'll go from there.

8. The idea of taking a short trip to the U.S. in spring, before the heat is getting really bad and Lily inevitably starting school in September. I may become spontaneous after all one day!

9. Lily announcing that she had gotten a main role at her class's musical, which will be performed on Violet's birthday. Lily told me that she wants the musical to be her birthday present for her little sister. Got to love this girl!!

10. A fun night of D&D yesterday. It's been way too long since we've played!

I hope you all had a great week and an even better weekend!

  2. What's with the leg shaving? Not sure I can understand the need to do it daily. So glad to hear about your power and your husband and you kids.

    1. Well, knowing myself, if I don't shave my legs daily, every other day will turn into once a week or once a month before I know it, so I'll just do it every day now.

Have a great new week, Sarah!

  3. A birthday party? With 5 & 6 year olds? I'd have slept on Wednesday too! Those things wear me out!
Hooray for young Lily! I'm sure you are very proud, as you should be!
God bless patient husbands. How mine hasn't throttled me yet, I have no idea because some days I want to kick my own butt! (No...he would never actually do that....total exaggeration..thought I should clear that up!)
I had to laugh about the leg shaving! Every day? Really?
A trip to the US? Where would you go?

    1. Since the start of the new year, I have shaved my legs every day, because I want to have nice legs again, not legs where my hubby suggests that I change the body lotion because my skin is so rough and I have to own up that my skin is actually fine.. :-)

The kids definitely wore me out, but I dedicated Sunday to be Olympics Sunday and stayed on the couch as much as possible :-)

Patient husbands are the best! I really wonder he hasn't lost all his nerves on me yet.. We're visiting hubby's parents in San Antonio; nothing exciting, just plenty of relaxing at the pool (hopefully).

      Have a great week, Sandy!

    1. Yes, every single day, I'm so proud of myself to stick to it :-)

Lily is definitely a very special little girl, everyone calls her a little sunshine, taking so good care of her little sister.

Hubby is the best, can't say it any different. I don't know how he can stand me, there are days when I can't stand myself :-)

      Have a great week, Zoe!

    1. I barely got off the couch on Sunday :-) Get some ear-plugs for the party! Do yourself a favor and have a garden party, I so wanted to send all of them out to play on the street :-)

Have a great new week, Janine!

  6. Having just tackled our second 5-6 year old birthday party in less than a month, I completely understand. Number 3 is great - thank goodness the husbands don't throw us out on those days/weeks/whatevers. Baby-easy is adorable. Leg shaving...hmmm. Pretty sure I have not shaved mine every day. We'll leave it there. But good for you!
    Have a wonderful week.

    1. Hubby has mentioned sometime last year that I should maybe get another lotion because the skin on my legs was so rough. Well, it wasn't my skin, and I decided to shave more frequently (as in daily) :-)

The second party in less than a month? How did you survive that?? I so wished my kids were summer-babies, so I could just have garden or playground parties for them!

Have a great new week, Lisa!

  8. Great minds think alike and all that: we both had shaving legs and soup in our TToT this week. You've got power to the new house? Yay! That much closer to moving in. And a trip to the US in the spring? Come see me :) It would be baby-easy.

    1. I thought the same about the soup and the leg shaving when I read through your 10.. So funny!

Where are you located, Dyanne?? We're going to visit the in-laws in San Antonio, TX. Isn't that ridiculous?? Hippie socialist liberal me in TX? One day I'll bring my Che Guevara shirt and listen to nothing but Buena Vista Social Club all trip long :-)

Have a great new week, Dyanne!!

  9. this is not as baby-easy as it looks! everyone (else) have already gotten the good comments for themselves…no fair!
    lol
congrats to her on the passing of the tests and your nearing move in ( I get from your comment about having power on… very exciting!)

hey!! there is a Wakefield… your trip! you simply must stop by, no there are no plaques up (yet) but you will be able to see where the blog got it's name and all.

    1. Can't wait for the big reveal, or whatever you have planned :-)

I really wonder how long it's going to take now until we can finally move in. Need to check when we finally get water and gas, before that, we won't be able to move. Still very thankful for this extremely and unusually mild winter, that prevented us having to spend thousands of euros keeping the floor from cracking up in the frost.

Have a great new week, Clark!

  11. Hmmm...I think I've had an unofficial challenge to not shave my legs. Fortunately, it takes a while before it's noticeable, and I gravitate toward long skirts these days.

    1. I'm luckily very fair, too, and I can get away for some time without shaving, but it just feels better when I do.

Have a great new week, Tamara!

  12. What was the motivation for daily shaving? Are we talking full on or just a quick swipe? I don't know if I could do it!

    1. Hubby suggested sometime last year that I should change my lotion because my skin was so rough. Well, it wasn't my skin, so this was my motivation :-) I'm lucky enough that all I need is a quick swipe with shower gel.. But I love how it feels :-)

Have a great new week, Kate!

  13. We're SO happy about the power, too. Let's see what's happening next in the house!

Lily is definitely such a sweet little girl, loving her little sister to the moon and back. She was so proud getting the role she wanted. Can't wait to see her at the performance!

    Have a great week, Lizzi!

  14. We never had more than a few kids for birthday parties when the kids were little. Boys may be rambunctious, but girls are so, so, so screechy loud! My ears just can't take it. You did a great job with the cake!
Shaving your legs as a resolution cracks me up.

    1. Have to start small, so I thought shaving my legs should be doable :-)

The screetching was horrible.. And you wouldn't believe how little girls can burp! They put every boy to shame!!
