Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (36)
Today was a great day. Unfortunately, half the weekend is over already. The kids, totally exhausted from our trip to the grandparents on Friday let us "sleep in" until 7:30 and were just so extremely sweet all day long, it was great. The weather was perfect, and I really start to wonder if we're hit with our very own Polar Vortex in the end of March. Besides all of last week, being off and getting tons of stuff done so far, I am especially thankful for:
1. Getting to watch Violet's hand while cuddling and watching TV this week. It sounds weird, but was the sweetest thing to watch how her fingers and hand moved as she went through moments of excitement and relaxation.
2. Going running with Lily today. On Wednesday, I finally made good on my promise to buy her running shoes and we got a perfect steal on a pair of Asics. She was so proud, and today she finally got to put them on and go for a run. She ran about a mile right there (1.5 km), and totally amazed me as she was almost constantly talking all the way. Even on the way back, the remaining 1.1km, she ran most of the way after a short break.
3. Getting to go on a run by myself afterward as well. I didn't do as well as I hoped, but it felt great to run again. I noticed that my thighs are almost touching again, so it's definitely time to work out again!!
4. Steam Sale, which makes for a very happy hubby.
5. A happy hubby, who's trying even harder than usual to make me happy. He found this awesome recipe blog and made the recipe that I raved about for dinner even though he had planned for burritos. He's the best!! Let me tell you, the Italian Wonderpot is out of this world!! I bet Christine will love this page, as the recipes are oftentimes for 6 - 10 servings (to freeze some or feed a large family!).
6. Our building site manager. He doesn't have an easy life with us, but is always supportive and understanding for the situation. Still we're going to have a crisis meeting on Tuesday...
7. Naps, glorious, glorious naps.
8. A great visit at my parents house. My aunt stopped by as well and I learned that there's going to be a real baby boom in our family. Not only my cousin will be a dad again in just a few weeks, but two of my cousins will have their babies in summer as well. Potentially, there will be three babies in the course of a month!!
9. Lily's teacher speaking so well about her. She said that she has rarely had such a friendly and helpful girls in her class and she's impressed with Lily's language skills. Remember, that's the teacher who has suggested special ed schooling for Lily for behavioral issues and learning deficiancies just 18 months ago!!
10. Watching funny YouTube videos with the hubby. Don't ask me why nut-shots are still so funny!!
I hope you all have a wonderful rest of the weekend and great start into the new week!

I also got to cuddle watching TV in bed with Lily, which was a very nice relaxing night for us, too. Truly thankful for that here also. Just like you though can't believe the weekend is half over now, but want to wish you a great, rest of the weekend now :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Janine :-) I'm still off until Wednesday, so my "weekend" continues for a little longer.. Have a great start into your new week!!
Deletelol…well, why would they not be?!*
ReplyDeletesound like you are almost at the end of the process with the house…gotta be liking it!
(thanks for the input this week past, I will contribute a grat item of my own on that!….we totally need to get you on one of the vid chats… maybe one of the Sunday chats (which have the advantage of being 8:30am EST which should put it somewhere in your afternoon. more to follow!
*oh! wait, I know!!! (signed Representative of the Y Chrome District)
Let's agree that nut-shots are funny :-) We're very close on being finished on the house. The problem is the water hook-up that's stalling everything for now and the individuals involved being way too stuck on their points. But I'm so going to pull the "poor pregnant girl card" in that meeting! Keep your fingers crossed that everything works out well!!
DeleteI so need to get on the chat one day! I'm going to try and install the program again, I promise!!
Have a great start into this new week, Clark!
Time spent with lovely little daughters...time alone...great husbands who don't mind when we change our minds...hearing wonderful things about our kids...all the makings of a fabulous week!
ReplyDeleteNut shots are funny because...they are. I love that you and the hubby watched that vid - we do silly things like that it's some of our most fun time. Just being silly together is great for a marriage.
It's usually him finding the funny stuff and being kind enough to share. I had to laugh so hard that Lily yelled at me from her room to be quiet so she could go to sleep :-) We really had a great week. Hoping to get some glorious news on Tuesday on the house. Please keep your fingers crossed for us!! Have a great new week, Lisa!
DeleteFingers crossed!
DeleteThanks so much, Lisa! I really appreciate it!
Delete#1 & 2 - so sweet!
ReplyDeleteNaps are always wonderful.
As are brand-new babies!
Thanks a lot, Cyndy. I don't know why, but I only watched Violet's hand, not the TV any more. Kids are always so much more interesting! Naps and baby booms are indeed glorious! So excited for all of them! Thank you for stopping by, and have a great new week!
DeleteA great weekend you're having! Good times with the family now!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Michelle, it sure was a great weekend, especially weather-wise. Have a wonderful new week!
Deleterunning with lily! how sweet is that? and that the school got its comeuppance! You knew all that behavioral stuff was malarchy! Im so glad everything has worked out at school!
ReplyDeleteLily just had a hard time adjusting back then. She still had some language issues and suffered from the aftermath of the moving. She was rather seeing herself as one of the adults than one of the kids, as she knew stability only from her relationship to adults that far. She adjusted and got comfortable with her own sweet self. Finally, the teachers are seeing it, too! Have a great new week, Zoe!
DeleteI love a good fail compilation but I am always left wondering with some if there was lasting damage. One of my favorite physical parts of my kids has always been their hands and feet. The tiny, chubby little digits could hold my attention forever and I have given more tiny toe kisses than I can count. And Lily, good for her and running. Nothing like starting early! Sounds like a good week, Stephanie. I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking the same as you, but I think in all of the clips the person gets up afterwards, so at least no broken necks or back. And the nut shots are funny!! The little one's hands and feet are indeed adorable. And blowing little raspberries on their tummies that makes them giggle :-) I wish they'd always be like that!
DeleteHope you have a great new week, Sandy!
Most definitely, Lizzi! It was so moving watching those little fingers twitch and move. She's still not the most coordinated person, so there may be a lot more impulse in her hands than with Lily was at her age.
ReplyDeleteLily loved the running, and is so excited to be running in a competition. She's probably being one of the youngest to run, and I hope that they will even accept her registration.
Fail videos are the best, as long as I can see the people getting up afterwards. There are a few where I truly wonder if they have broken their backs or necks, and that's not funny!
Have a great new week, Lizzi!!
So sweet that Lily wanted to go running with you. It's always shocking to me how far kids' little legs can carry them!
ReplyDeleteLittle hands are fascinating. I find myself studying my kids' hands all the time. Don't be thinking you're weird for doing it!
I will be all over trying that recipe blog.
So many babies!! It's awesome. My three siblings and I had 5 boys in less than 2 years. It is so much fun to get them all together, even now, when they are all 11 and 12 years old.
That blog is so amazing. Richard's trying the veggie burritos next, sounds SO yummie!
DeleteI know that I'll be so missing those little hands and feet once they are grown and hiding in their rooms all day. We're doing little Halloween decorations with prints of their feet every year, so at least I'll have a little keep-sake from those years :-)
Lily's very interested in running, and all the way she was talking how much fun it was getting away with me without Violet :-) I hope it will help improving her all-over muscle tone and posture, which she's been having troubles with.
Hope you have a great week, Christine!
Oh, a family baby boom means lots of future fun with cousins! My kids match up in ages with their cousins on my husband's side of the family. It makes family get-togethers really fun.
ReplyDeleteExcept of my one cousin (with baby no. 2 on the way) I don't have much contact with my extended family. But I know that on the occasional family gatherings there will be plenty of playmates for the little one :-) Have a great new week, Kristi!
DeleteMy favorite thing on little ones are their hands. I love love LOVE the little dimples on the back of them, and I remember being sad each time my kids got big enough that the dimples disappeared and became real knuckles. I also love chubby baby feet.
ReplyDeleteSo nice that the teacher was so complimentary of Lily's behavior!
And I give up, what's a Steam Sale?
Steam is an online video game community, which has insane sales on games all the times. Basically, hubby's dream :-) It's so amazing that Violet was the skinniest little girl I could imagine (healthy, that is), but she still has the little dimples in her hands.. I'm just flabbergasted by this teacher's attitude towards children's behavior. When they cause any troubles whatsoever, they are a case for special ed in her eyes, even though this is so not true, as Lily proves! Thanks a lot for stopping by, Dyanne!
