Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (123)

Ten Things of Thankful

Knitting is keeping me from writing.. But as Ned stark already knew: Winter is coming! - and we expect a pretty harsh one this year. So I'll keep on knitting (also: best and cheapest therapy there is!).

My Thankfuls for this week:

1. Calvin's bronchitis being almost gone. He missed two days of nursery school but has been back since Tuesday and really happy about it.

2. Pumpkin, pumpkin everywhere!!

3. A free Wednesday afternoon. All of Violet's appointments were canceled, and the girls could enjoy an afternoon playing outside.

4. A spontaneous lunch date with two wonderful co-workers.

5. Hubby getting rid of his braces; he feels a lot better now, and Lily is excited that Daddy now, too, has a retainer, just like herself.

6. A fun evening out with friends. The dinner place wasn't as good as the Mongolian buffet we usually go to, but the kids had fun nevertheless, and we adults shared some good conversation - as far as the noise level permitted.

7. Being able to take the kids to a charity event this afternoon. Two professional soccer players from a major club have been in signing autographs to support the cause, and the two lads have been just so kind to little Calvin and the other kids.

8. New books to read with hubby.

9. More good nights with Calvin sleeping through.

10. Patient friends.

  1. this is one of the best, direct and to the point TToT posts I've read in a while. (It's a well-known ambition of mine to be able to express myself as clearly).
(just in case anyone needed more convincing that here, in the 'sphere we spend at least some of the time in a retro-to-high-school reality, you mention your husband's braces! lol, more people around me (oblique way of saying 'my age') are getting braces than I remember there being in high school)

    1. Yup, FIRST :-) I kept making fun of him that he's just trying to re-live his youth.. You know, wearing braces, going to college.. But now, I'm actually very, very proud of him that he goes to school, and happy that the braces did their part in preventing more surgery and pain for Richard..

  3. Love this list.
Pumpkin everywhere is my favourite, but it was difficult to choose.

  4. Yay for Calvin sleeping through the night!! Everything is better when babies sleep through the night.
Sounds like you all had fun this week, getting together with friends and having relaxing nights off. The best kind of week!
Hope the coming one is just as good.

  6. Oh glad bronchitis is gone! That's the worst! OK, maybe strep is the worst. But still.
Do you and Hubby read books together? The Hub and I used to a loooong time ago and we've gotten out of the habit for far too many reasons. I would love to do that again - I may just suggest it.
Hope you are all well - miss seeing you around (because I'M missing a lot).

    1. We're not really reading them together, I think it would drive Richard nuts because in English I read a lot slower than I am, but we often read books after the other has finished them and then discuss as the second one goes along. Just started a Terry Pratchett, Long Earth. Really recommend that one!

  7. So many people have already had bronchitis this year. I hope it isn't a sign of things to come.

    1. Quite honestly, I expect more to come with Calvin. Last year, by the time he was six months old, he was battling his third serious bronchitis, and this year he had his first as soon as the weather turned cruddy. Hoping for the best, expecting the worst I think..

  9. How fun for your daughter to be able to share the whole braces thing with Dad. Glad Calvin's bronchitis is almost gone. Having a loving family and patient friends is always a big thankful.
