Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (44)
Today was a busy day, the last day to get things done before our vacation. I'Ve picked up the girls' rooms while hubby was out on kitty-sitting duty, we've had another meeting with a contractor for finishing up the interior of the house, and in the afternoon the girls and I went downtown for some last-minute gift shopping. Upon returning home I found poor hubby spiking a fever just in time for the pre-trip stress to really pick up, so I threw together some dinner and an Easter bread before bathing the girls and finishing up the Easter baskets for everyone. And now, with my translation for the night done, I am done as well.
But even though my brain is more than fried, I should still come up with at least 10 things to be thankful for, since it was a really eventful week.
1. Being on leave until May now. I so need the break!
2. A good book to read while sitting on the bus for an extra hour in downtown Erlangen, waiting for the street to clear after the fender bender right in front of us. George R.R. Martin can also write really good science fiction!
3. Contending for Mother of the Year when I Richard pointed out to me that the girls were just watching their first Quentin Tarantino movie. And losing all chances to that title again since the Quentin Tarantino movie they are watching is The Muppets and the Wizard of Oz.
4. Having my husband. I can never be thankful enough for him. Even though he feels like crap and is spiking a fever he picks up the second part of bathing duty with the girls because Baby Boy demanded me to sit down and rest for a bit. He's simply the best.
5. Asparagus.
6. Violet being her absolutely even sweeter than usual self and giving Daddy extra-hugs because he feels bad.
7. Finding a really knowledgeable painter to finish the interior of our house by mid-May. Got everything arranged within a matter of days. It was stressful and anxiety-inducing, but we are both very comfortable with our decision now.
8. Having a building site manager who doesn't mind getting panicked phone calls on a Saturday morning from me. And not only does he not mind, he also calls me back and puts my mind on ease.
9. Spending a fun day downtown with the girls. We shared ice cream and the girls got to run around a play during perfect spring weather with surprisingly tons of sunshine after yesterday's all-day rain showers.
10. Being able to look forward to a mostly stress-free day tomorrow. And how much I'm looking forward to it!
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend and a happy springtime celebration!

(must already be Easter there...so Happy Easter)
ReplyDelete(Tell us more about the Tarantino movie... is it really the Muppets and the Wizard of Oz?) lol
it must be exciting to see the light at the end of the tunnel for the new house...and vacation time is always a good thing.
Vacation day is definitely a good thing right now!! Yup, I was surprised, too, when hubby showed me that the Muppet Wizard of Oz movie is a Quentin Tarantino movie :-) Wouldn't let the girls watch any "real" Tarantino movie for another 10 years or so :-) Happy Egg Day to you, too, Clark!!
Deleteoh... oh yeah,
ReplyDeleteFRIST Comment!!!
Kind of guessed this comment when I saw your name pop up again, Clark :-) And indeed, first AND second comment!! Congratulations!
DeleteYou have some lovely and sweet moments there, Stephanie - isn't it great to have a good list even after a crazy week? Hope you are feeling well and that your husband feels better fast!
ReplyDeleteHappy Easter to all!
Happy Egg Day to you, too, Lisa! Unfortunately, hubby had to miss the brunch at my parents' house, he just needed a day in bed and is doing better now. My sister was sick and had to miss it, too, and my mom bought way, WAY too much food. But we had a great time! Hope you had a great day as well, Lisa!
DeleteIt's so impressive that you are able to be so productive with the house stuff and still find time to do fun stuff with your kids (and take care of your husband). Asparagus in the Spring is so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteAsparagus season is early here this year, Sarah! Honestly, I'm stretching myself so, so thin right now. Can't wait to spend a week putting my feet in a pool and sipping sun tea all day for a week to re-charge the batteries a bit. Have a great weekend!
DeleteGlad you had a sunshiney day! Enjoy your extra long break!
ReplyDeleteI sure will, Kate! Early sunshiney days are always something to be thankful for, especially if they are unexpected! Have a great new week, Kate!
DeleteIm with Sarah... I am impressed that you can prioritize family so well in light of all the construction stuff and everything else... hope hubs is better soon...enjoy your break!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Zoe! I'm really feeling the breaking point being much closer than I'm comfortable with, so I can't wait to get away and enjoy a couple of weeks of only family time. Hubby is doing better after spending a day resting. Hope he's back to 100% by Tuesday!
DeleteEnjoy your next couple of weeks--it sounds like you deserve some down time! Hope your husband is feeling better soon, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kristi! I can't wait to sit at the pool and read a book. Only three more day until pool-time :-) Hubby is doing better after resting for the day. Thanks so much for your concerns, Have a great week!
DeleteHave a wonderful weekend and a wonderful Easter break!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much, Michelle! Wishing the same to you :-)
DeleteHappy springtime to you and I hope your husband feels better soon! And I agree with Lizzi - on leave until MAY??? Awesome.
ReplyDeleteWe have six weeks of annual leave here in Germany, and I still have 5 days left of last year's leave, so I needed to take a longer time off :-) Hubby's doing much better already, thanks so much, Kristi! Have a wonderful day!
DeleteViolet's such a sweet little soul, she definitely warms my heart with her smile and her caring. I will be back at work on May 9, for a little less than 2 months until my maternity leave starts. Can't believe it.. Have a great new week, Lizzi!
ReplyDeleteI hate you just a little bit for the 6 weeks of annual leave. I have the summer off from teaching, which is certainly longer than 6 weeks; however, it is not PAID. Note to self: move to Germany.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your vacation and get some rest. Baby Boy is trying to tell you something! Hope your husband is better for the trip!
Oh, teachers get off all the school vacations, and it's paid.. Labor laws are so awesome here!
DeleteAck, poor husband. I really hope he feels better before you leave on your trip.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad the house details are getting figured out. You'll be in it in no time!
An hour to sit and read with no nagging of "I should be doing..." since you are stuck on a bus and have absolutely no choice but to sit there? I'd be thankful for that!
He was doing better by the time of the trip, thanks a lot, Christine! The vacation was just so relaxing. We're ready to tackle whatever now :-)
DeleteIt's so lovely to meet you Stephanie! I love your list of thankfuls! I'm so glad you were able to enjoy the sunshine with the girls and that hubs (bless his heart!) helped even when he felt crappy. What a guy. LOVE that. Praying he feels better before your trip! ENJOY!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by, Chris! Hubby is really my rock, wouldn't know what to do without him. Unfortunately, no sunshine here any more, but still filled with thankfulness! He was doing well again before the trip, luckily, and we had a great time during our vacation.
DeleteI needs to check out that Muppet Movie. It sounds fantastic!
ReplyDeletePoor hubs, I hope he is feeling better and Huzzah! for house details working out.
Ah... asparagus... say. no. more.
Hubby was actually not too impressed by the movie I'm afraid. I think asparagus doesn't need any more to say. Can't wait for more of it in the coming weeks. Love asparagus season here. Luckily, hubby did indeed feel better before the trip and we had the best time. Thanks for your well-wishes!
