Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (65)

Ten Things of Thankful

Conversation between hubby and me yesterday:

Hubby: What day is today?
Me: Friday.
Hubby: REALLY?!?!?!?
Me: Yup.
Hubby: I thought it was Wednesday!!!
Me: Nope, it's Friday..  Why do things like that never happen to me when I'm working??

Without further ado, on to my ten special thankfuls this week:

1. Violet not being seriously injured after her tumble off the swing on Sunday.

2. Meeting with several friends this week. Tuesday, our former neighbors came visit us to meet the baby, on Wednesday, Lily, Calvin, and I went to meet a friend of mine in town, and Thursday a friend came over to hang out.

3. Taking Lily on a shopping trip to pick her outfit for first day of school. Love to spend some quality time with my Lily-Pie  :-)

4. Violet finally having her big-girl bed so I can climb in bed with her for some cuddle time after the good-night story.

5. Baked goods; tons and tons of baked goods.

6. Not having to go to work after a night of next to no sleep. Hubby and I were able to trade naps and somehow survive the day.

7. Getting to playing with teeny-tiny baby feet!

8. For hubby, who spoils me in everyday life. I may not be getting flowers for Valentine's Day or our anniversary (which I am totally fine with), but today alone he let me get some rest in the morning after a crazy night with Calvin, made me sit down while he cooked my lunch, and cooked dinner in the evening. Yes, I'm a lucky girl!

9. Natural remedies for bloated babies.

10. Starting a German story time for expat children here pretty soon. Our family knows how important speaking the language is for proper integration, and one cannot start early enough to get familiar with a new language.

Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of the weekend!

  1. Naps made a lot of lists this week, including mine. The storytime idea sounds like a great one!

    1. I was surprised how many parents were interested, so I think it was something missing here in the community. Naps are great, I'm glad you got some, too :-)

  3. #10 interesting… we lived in Germany (so the story goes) when I was some age like <3 yo) and as they tell it I acquired German as a first language. We returned to the States before I got much older, say 4 or so, and I replaced it with English. Needless to say, when I got to High School, I was totally disappointed my German did not come instantly back so I could get A's.
Not the slightest trace of it remains. Children seem to have much less difficulty than adults with language.

    1. This is true, Clark! It's amazing how Lily and Violet acquire the language without much efforts, even though both have issues with auditive learning. But even we adults are losing language skills that are not practiced. There was a time I was near fluent in French and Spanish, but it's mostly gone now unfortunately.

  5. Baked goods? Lovely. What were they?

The story-time for ex-pat kids sounds like a BRILLIANT idea, and what a lovely way to engage them :)

  6. WHY does Blogger eat my comments??? Why?
Naps did make many lists this week - and for good reason. Naps. Are. Awesome.
Big girl beds are awesome, aren't they? Kidzilla switched to hers this summer (finally) and I have to say stretching out net to her while she reads or snuggling up with her before sleep time is so much better than crouching on the floor next to the little daybed or having to transfer her from our bed to hers.
Your hubby sounds a lot like mine. I don't get a whole lot of typical romantic-type stuff, but I do get coffee every morning. He brings me my meds every night and doesn't make me run up and down the stairs for things when my legs are hurting. Those things show so much care, I think. We are two lucky ladies!

    1. I agree, big girl beds are the best. Poor Violet has fallen out once already, but she definitely enjoys that I get to cuddle with her a lot more these days :-)

The day-to-day displays of love are indeed a lot more important than flowers a couple of times a year :-) We are the really lucky ones!

  10. I love a good nap.
I so enjoy hearing about supportive spouses. Who cares about holiday flowers? Not I! It's the everyday niceties that make a great marriage.
I've been eating more than my fair share of baked goods recently. In my house, it's time to stop the baking for a while and focus on the actual meals. :)

    1. But baking is awesome! I won't stop anytime soon; more pumpkin is waiting to be turned into pumpkin bread :-)

I really consider myself lucky to have a man like hubby. I don't care for flowers very much, but love the day-to-day things he does for me!
