Week In Review - Ten Things of Thankful (3)

Ten Things of Thankful</

div>

Yet another week has passed. Work has been busy, the weather was a little too hot for my taste and two days were extremely muggy; I start getting in general vacation mood. Just one more week until we take off!

This week, I have been especially thankful for:

1. Having an awesome orthopedic specialist, who keeps seeing me on short notice and does a great job fixing my foot.

2. Getting to watch Lily being absolutely over the moon for the "Mia and Me" coloring page I got for her. She's asked for it for a while, and when I finally brought it home for her, she colored it the very night, not even wanting a good-night story, and took it to kindergarten to give to her friend, who also likes Mia and Me. Such a sweet girl!

3. The tunderstorm on Thursday that cleared all the mugginess out of the air.

4. Receiving the letter from the insurance with the confirmation that they will cover the expenses for hubby's dental treatment, and having gotten an appointment with the orthodontist to discuss the treatment during the next 2 or so years.

5. Getting to listen to Violet telling me all about her day in kindergarten o Friday.

6. Having two dirty girls happily storming into the house after playing outside all day.

7. A wonderful evening of meeting a wonderful couple and playing D&D.

8. This beautiful dark yellow (nearly) full moon, sometimes hiding behind dark clouds that I got to watch from my spot on the couch for most of the week.

9. Getting to watch this absolutely crazy weather this morning. The sun was shining, everything was just nice, wen suddenly, out of the blue, it started to rain. It kept raining for about 5-10 minutes, and we all wondered where THAT came from (and Lily was running around the house from window to window, looking for a rainbow).

10. Date night with the hubby tonight!!

Thanks so much for hosting yet again, Lizzi!!

  1. I hope you had a lovely date night.

The grubby two girls sounds like perfect summertime. Not so much the rain (which I dislike intensely), but I've also been loving that huge, yellow moon this week. Saw it best right after D&D on Tuesday - it looked ENORMOUS and soon had dark, wispy clouds scudding across it - perfectly wonderful.

Thanks for joining in again - I love your lists.

    1. Oh, the rain was perfect this morning. It was so weird, the sun was shining and suddenly this shower of big, fat raindrops ;-)

I'm so glad you got to see that moon, too! Wasn't it beautiful??

    2. Stunning! I've rarely seen it look so good.

Hope your rain's gone now. We had a big shower this evening :(

    3. That rain shower lasted literally 10 minutes at most, all while the sky was blue and almost cloudless, except that teeny-tiny flutter above our house, that couldn't really be called a cloud ;-) Can't wait for the t-storms tonight though, can't take this heat any more, and I need SLEEP after last night!!

    4. We had some storms tonight (allegedly) - Husby saw lightning out the window but I had my back to it and missed it each time. Meant to rain all day Tuesday though, which is a horrible prospect. It's cold enough now without being dank and damp, too.

PLEASE SUMMER - back to hot, back to hot!

    5. But not TOO hot, please! Saturday night was just horrible, none of the girls slept in their rooms so they came to our bed, hubby moved to the couch, and I was their water-bearer for the rest of the night, getting water for the one or the other about every hour..

  2. Yay for the date night tonight and we too had some rain two days ago while the sun was shining. Always a bizarre experience, but my girls just like Lily was fascinated. Have fun tonight and enjoy the rest fo your weekend now!! :)

    1. Thanks a lot, Janine! We're going to hold hands on the couch (because it's too hot for cuddling), have dessert and cold drinks, and watch "A Quantum of Solace" :-) Glad you got some rain, too! I can't wait until it's supposed to cool down a bit in the beginning of next week.

  3. A great list indeed! I am a huge rain person--and after a week in the 90's, I quite literally danced barefoot in the grass, soaked to the skin, when the storms finally came. :) Enjoy your vacation!

    1. I totally should have done that. Once I have a house, I'll so do it ;-) Thanks a lot for stopping by, Chantel!

  4. OOOH date night with hubby! I'm happy to read that insurance will be helping with your husband's dental issues - I have some of my own (a couple of old "failed" fillings and cracked enamel - not fun and I'm dreading it as I'm sure he is because ugh but insurance helping is a thankful thing for sure!).
    I love crazy weather, too!

    1. thank you, Kristi, we are, too. The hubby has a bad teeth mis-alignment and will need 2 surgeries as well as about 18 to 24 months of various braces. The insurance will cover 80% of the cost as we go and refund the 20% we have to pay after the treatment is completed. German (public!!) health insurance rocks!!

  5. Such a wonderful list!! Since I've been in Vegas they have had 2 really good storms that cleared out the mugginess, LOVING IT! Haha. :) I hope you are having an amazing weekend.

Also I am very glad that you have a wonderful doctor who is helping you.

    1. Aren't those storms awesome? The thunder was SO lound, and Lily started telling me all about how thunderstorms work. After she was scared like crazy after a thunderstorm a few months ago, I explained it to her and we watched some storm videos on youtube. She loved that so much and will repeat it whenever she hears thunder ;-)

My doc is really awesome! I might do a short run tonight, if weather permits, otherwise going into serious training again on Tuesday.

  6. Lovely list Stephanie, I hope you had a great date with your husband ;)
I'm glad you have a good doctor, it really helps when your doctor who understand that your issue can't wait several weeks and can see you on short notice.
Being able to see the beautiful moon from your couch sounds soooo good,
I hope you have a great time on your vacation.

    1. Thank you so much, Natalia! We did have a great date, despite the heat. We actually watched Skyfall, not A Quantum of Solace, as I had initially thought.

My doctor is really awesome. He's usually quite booked, but I asked them to just let me know if someone cancels their appointment since I work very close to the office and could come in on short notice, and they happened to have an appointment open up the very day. Otherwise, I would have gone in during the walk-in hours the next day.

The moon was so beautiful, I haven't seen something like that in ages. I'm quite a moon-person ;-)

  7. Summer rain showers are the best. And I still look for a rainbow every time. It's worth it.

The dirtier the kid, the more fun they had.

    1. What I forgot to mention that I was actually running around the house with Lily, looking for this rainbow ;-)

  8. Such a great list here, you do have things to celebrate! A vacation coming up, a beautiful full moon, and date night with hubby. I believe in those for all marriages.. great moments shared! Best of list... ##6 - how delightful to read about children that still go outside and play and come in tired and dirty and ready to rest... that's healthy and happy in the making! :-)

    1. Thank you so much for stopping by, Josie! It is actually quite important to us to get the kids to play outside. It's not that easy in the winter, because it gets dark quite early, but during the summer, when the weather is nice, they get to play outside after dinner until bed-time. And in the afternoons, too, if they're not napping after kindergarten ;-)

  9. ...thunderstorms! (used to really enjoy them, but our dog, Una *so* doesn't!) fun to watch and listen to, otherwise.

Dentists ayiiee! My least favorite medical professional.
(I had one dentist, a total roger, of course, who midway in the process of rebuilding a tooth, stops and holds up a mirror and says, " this is really great work I've done getting the tooth ready for the crown! Here, look!"
lol I kept my eyes closed and said, 'no thank you'... I think I hurt his feelings.

    1. I actually don't mind the dentist, and actually would have appreciated if I could have seen the work, not only hear them talking about it. Hubby has to see the orthodontist and oral surgeon more than the dentist right now ;-)

I love thunderstorms, and we're raising the girls to like them, too! But something tells me that explaining the cause of thunderstorms and watching youtube videos of storms won't help with the doggie's anxiety..

  10. What a great week: children playing outside to their hearts' content, end-of-the-week date night--these are the makings for wonderful memories!

    1. Thank you so much, Kristi! We really ensure that our girls get enough time outside, and getting dirty is the most fun ;-)

We had a really good time during out "couch date", even though the heat was just awful..

  11. There are so many things on your list I can totally relate to! Love that you mention so many "small" things like being happy that your girl loves her colouring book and other stuff like that. It is really the small things that are overlooked ever so often we should be thankful for!

I hope you were not affected by today's severe thunderstorms and that the night will stay uneventful.

    1. The small things are what makes life so colorful.

The thunderstorms were nice here, and cooled everything down a bit. But Thursday is to be up in the high 30s again, yieks!!

  12. GAH! Wanting to get this in before doing it all over again this weekend (I hope you have a weekend post made for TToT, otherwise I will have to catch it next weekend)!

It's awesomely sweet that your daughter actually colored and then gave it away to her friend. Kids are so kind, what happens to them as they age? HAHA I hope your children retain their sweetness ;-)

I'm jealous of your storms... very much so. They claimed we would get one or two, but it was basically just a little rain/drizzle. Very disappointing.

Still think it's cute thinking about you meeting other gaming couples. Who ends up GM/DMing?

Have a great trip, as I know you are about to head out! Glad you Doc knows how to get your foot back into shape!
