Week in Review - Ten Things of Thankful (8)

Ten Things of Thankful

Yes, it's that time of the week again, and I'd like to give a big "heads-up" to the wonderful Lizzi (aka Considerer), who came up with this awesome link-up, and who definitely seems to need the support this week. Hugs to you, Lizzi!!

Luckily, the 10 things I am thankful for this week are going to come much easier this week than last:

1. Having lots of work to do every day, makes the time at work go by faster.

2. Yet another box of chocolates under my pillow (love you to pieces, hubby!!)

3. Having a hubby who has such a wonderful sense of humor. He got his first set of braces this week (not regular braces but a contruction that stretches across his upper jaw and is fixed to his canines and molars, it looks scary!!) and cannot talk. I felt so sorry for him and tried really hard not to giggle. He noticed, picked up a book and started reading to me until I couldn't contain myself any more. Love him even more for THAT!

4. Sleep, when I get it.

5. I*FINISHED*THE*RUN!!!!

6. A new running buddy, who even though she had troubles starting into round II finished all three laps of the race!!

7. The girls singing songs.

8. Peaches from the neighbor's tree.

9. The absolutely best stuffed zucchini, also courtesy of our neighbor's garden.

10. For my friend's husband to be home, even though it's only for 2 weeks, and being able to get to see them tonight!!

11. A fun playdate this morning.

12. Home-made latte in my gigantic mug.

Looking forward to reading everyone's responses and wishing everyone a wonderful rest of the weekend!! Thanks, once again, for hosting, Lizzi!

    1. The stuffed zucchini were heavenly indeed. The best he's ever made! This time of the year is always the busiest time, but also some fun extra-curricular activities towards the end of this month ;-)

  3. Awww thanks. I was just having an out-of-sorts moment last night. All better now :)

WELL DONE FOR FINISHING THE RACE - that's so cool. Hats off to you :D

Love your hubby's sense of humour - he sounds like a really awesome guy to take the laugh on the chin and join in with you in the amusement. Hope the braces work out well for him.

    The home-grown foods sound awesome.

And YAY! for time with good friends - there's nothing like it.

    1. I tend to have those, too; glad you are doing better now!

I am so relieved that I made it. Now on the half-marathon distance ;-)

Hubby has the best sense of humor ever. One of the things that make me fall in love with him a little more every day. He hates the braces, but will have to stick it out for about 6 months. He can't swallow well, not even pills or so.

The produce from our neighbors is so delicious. Still growing even though our neighbor's mother, who has taken care of the garden, has died last year. Way too much for him to eat though.

We had such a great time with our friends. Can't wait for their family to be re-united again for good!

Thanks so much for stopping by, Lizzi!

    2. He's gonna need lots of thickshakes, soup and support, I guess. That sounds hard! I hope it doesn't hurt him too much.

Glad he's got a sense of humour that makes you fall for him more, and which helps tough situations along - that makes such a difference.

There is absolutely NOTHING like freshly grown food. I've been enjoying potatoes, red onions and yellow 'spaceship' squashes from my Mum's allotment, and I love them.

    3. He's getting better, it just takes some time to get used to the new mouth situation. Can't wait for him to be done with this piece of dental work!

He definitely has a very unique sense of humor. He rarely looses his cool ;-)

I can't wait to have my own herb garden and a little bit of produce ;-)

The neighbor is awesome, car mechanic with a large garden, how can it get better?? :-)

  5. Your poor husband and his braces! Both of my kids had them, and my daughter had some pretty awful stuff done to her, but nothing compares to your description of what he's having done! (And if it had been mine, I TOTALLY would have laughed, as well!)

I'm glad you're thankful for running. I'm thankful that nobody can make me run again in my entire life. Ever.

    1. Yes, definitely poor hubby. He's such a trooper. He'll have to stick with it for about 6 months. Wonder how he'll do playing his instrument though ;-)

You sound like the hubby when it comes to running. Did you do military, too?? ;-) I'm not a fan of running either, but the best and easiest way to get fit.

    2. No, but in order to graduate, my college made everyone take a class where all you did was run and lift weights. That's the last time I ran. And I took the class in fall of 1978. (They STILL have that stupid class there, because my son is at the same college.)

    3. Well that's useless. I definitely understand you! Hope your boy gets by this class easy!

  6. Look at you, coming up with 12 things! Your husband sounds like a wonderful sport. That contraption sounds awful. And even when you laugh at him, he still gives you chocolates. :)

    Yay to finishing the run!!

Your neighbor sounds delightful, giving you all sorts of garden/orchard goodies.

    Here's to another great week!

  7. sounds like a good week, Stephanie!

one of the benefits of participating in a group like this, week after week, is getting to enjoy the good things (as well as sharing to whatever extent possible in the bad things).

...I do not get running! lol I will watch and admire people who do, I mean I like strenuous activities but running seems to combine the simple thing of running with a level of self-discipline that I just can't imagine mustering.
good to read about....thanks for the input on the Assessment over at the Doctrine... any scenario you would like to contribute, totally appreciate!

    1. It definitely was a good week, Clark, the weekend being the best, as usual ;-)

My motivation to run has been quite down recently, and I am a declared fair-weather runner, so excercise-less months are ahead of me! Trying to keep moving by signing up for races though ;-)

I have something to write about the doctrine this week. Can't wait to learn your imput!

    1. Thanks a lot for stopping by, Dawn! Hubby will have the contraption for about 6 months, and I suppose he'll count down the days until he can get rid of it!

  12. I love that you have a neighbor with a peach tree! The apartment building next to ours has a pear tree and later this month, we will go pear tree picking! The worst part of the pear tree is that they ripen all around the same time.

    The stuffed zucchini sounds amazing.

    Congrats on the run!

  13. What an awesome list! Chocolates and lattes?? Right up my alley! I also have done some running--in fits and starts as we say here in the South. ;-) And what a RUSH it is to complete a race! So, congrats on that! Stuffed zucchini sounds yummy! Hope you have a great week!

Just keep running, you will improve very quickly, and it's such an easy way to get fit! Can't wait for my next race this Saturday!

  14. YAY! Congrats on the race! How was it? It's sweet you are Thankful for the running partner :-)

Awww and so sweet to be there to give support to Lizzi during her shitastic week. I came in a week/half late and am all... "Oh crap, you are good now, though, right? Mmmmkay, no waterworks, get gone!" Okay, maybe not entirely like that, but yeah...

Those braces sound pretty hardcore >.> It's awesome your husband can still channel some humor during a timeframe that has to pretty much suck. Hopefully he maintains that the entire two weeks!

Sounds like you had some delicious fruits and veggies!

What songs do you girls sing? Do they may them up or sing specific songs?

Not to be an Anal Adam (Don't ask — it's what came to mind...), but I believe your last Thankful post in August was marked as #7 so you are technically way ahead of where you thought you were in Thankfulness! Now that's something to be Thankful for, no?! :-)

    1. The night run went awesome, I felt so good afterward! And I was so glad to see my running partner cross the finish line after leaving me at the beginning of lap 2.

The braces are indeed hardcore. He has his surgery scheduled for next Friday, and it sounds much worse than I had thought, poor guy. Hope he won't have any complications.

Fruits and veggies from neighbor's garden are awesome ;-)

The girls are mostly singing songs they learn in kindergarten or hear at home. Listening to Lily singing "no children" by the Mountain Goats is priceles ;-)

Ooops.. Corrected it, Mr. Adam ;-)
