What's Going On In My Head?

Well, this is the question we'd tried to solve today. For years, I've been dealing with sinus infections all winter long. Last year was especially bad, and I have absolutely no desire to spent another winter like that. That is why I went to see a specialist a week ago, who referred me on to radiology, for a little CT shooting:

The result? Nothing. A minor deviation of the nasal septum, completely normal. A mild swelling of the nasal membranes, nothing unusual either. The sinus cavities are clear as well. So what is it?

The pain in my cheek bones and forehead may be due to cramped up muscles in my neck. But the constant congestion? It might be an allergy, but I don't believe that. I'm going to have another appointment with the specialist after she's back from vacation, can't wait to finally get an answer!

  2. Sinus problems are no joke, and you have all my sympathy in having to deal with them :(

Hubby gets this problem, but we know they are allergy-led, so that helps some.

I hope you can get it sorted before winter's really upon us :)

  3. Augh, unanswered medical questions are the worst! I have something like that going on with my ear where everthing appears normal and then I'll all of a sudden not be able to hear out of it and everything still appears to be normal. I hope you find your answer!

  4. Oh I hope you figure what's causing that! But I'm glad there is nothing wrong too with your head, if that makes sense!

I get headaches pretty often, less so as I've gotten older. But I've had CT Scans, MRIs, and MRAs. I'm so glad they always showed nothing but always wondered why I get these headaches - conclusion is, I just do. Haha.

    1. Has anyone ever checked the muscles on the very top of your neck? My doctor said that the headaches most likely come from cramped-up muscles. It totally feels like a sinus headache, pressure from the inside against my cheek bones and forehead, weird, but when she showed me the pictures, it made sense. Now we only have to figure out where the constant head colds, stuffy nose, etc. come from (and maybe I'll get a prescription for massages) ;-)

Thanks for your concerns, Kate! I hope you'll figure out what's causing your headache as well!

  5. I hope you have the answers you are seeking soon. Unanswered medical mysteries are not fun and sinus issues are no joke. I hope that the specialist is able to get you feeling better and more like yourself very soon.

    1. That sucks, Steph! Do you have a diagnosis or just dealing with it? I really wonder what the doc comes up next.. At least it seems as if I dodged the bullet named surgery though..
