Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (4)

Ten Things of Thankful

A lot of things have happened this week (and are still happening until Sunday and beyond). Here are my top ten things I am thankful for:

1. My cast being off again and running goes GREAT!

2. Building on our house is FINALLY starting!

3. The temperatures haveing been lower again early this week, and I've slept wonderfully!

4. Lily and Violet bringing home their art work from kindergarten. I love sitting down with them and looking at their pictures, letting them tell me all about it.

5. The hubby taking so good care of me, buying meatless protein options just for me.

6. Realizing that a well-placed tantrum at work can lead to success.

7. Being appreciated by other bloggers. It was actually last week when I received two awards by Joy at I Can Say Mama, and I'm very, very grateful for them!! Thanks so much again, Joy!

8. The wonderful bloggers who have provided guest posts for my blog while I'm away so it doesn't feel too neglected.

9. Having enough vacation time and funds to go on this little family vacation.

10. Being able to leave the computer behind for a week, and being able to return afterward.

I'm sorry I won't be able to respond to anyone this week, since I'm going to leave for our one-week vacation in a little bit. See you all next week!

  1. Have a gorgeous, gorgeous vacation, and PLEASE when you come back tell us about the well-timed-tantrum. I love hearing about when meltdowns are USEFUL - so many of mine are unproductive.

Glad you have your cast off, and YAY! for your wonderful husband for being so caring and considerate towards you :) He sounds awesome.

    1. Thanks a lot, Lizzi, I had a great vacation! We returned a day early because it started to rain big time and the beds were fairly uncomfortable, but we all had a lot of fun!

Hubby is indeed awesome, love this guy ;-)

Well, the tantrum was a really pee'd off email to a quite difficult business partner in a country where they usually don't talk to women at all. Obviously, I sounded angry enough that suddenly, they fixed the problem in record time and even called me to apologize, which is completely unheard of ;-)

  2. Again, hope you have a ton of fun on your vacation and can't wait to hear all about it now!!! :)

    1. Thanks a lot!! I was just really, REALLY pee'd off and wrote an appropriate email, if I had had to tell the guy in person I would have been yelling and stomping and pulling my hair, and the email showed that. And all of a sudden, they were able to fix the main issue and they even called to let us know and APOLOGIZE!!

    1. Thanks a lot! At last, people won't make fun of me any more because I looked like wearing a boot on one foot and a ballet flat on the other ;-)

  5. yeah count me in.... tantrums....tantrums

we *so* need to hear about strategic tantrumationing

lol (yeah that word is very red-lined)

    1. That word should be entered in Merriam-Webster AT ONCE!! I wrote an email that was the equivalent of kicking, screaming, flailing arms, stomping, pulling hair, etc. And it totally got me what I wanted and an apology on top of it ;-) I SO cannot let the girls know about that!

  6. Have a great vacation!

Question: I am trying to reduce the amount of meat we eat...what would you say are the best and least expensive options you (or your husband, I should say) have found? And no, I don't expect an answer until you return. Hope you have a great time!

    1. Thanks a lot! Well, if you are looking to reduce meat, not to replace it all together, I would just suggest to opt for vegetarian dishes and beans, lentils, etc. You can get plain tofu almost everywhere, but it can be tricky to prepare. I liked smoked tofu that we grilled as a salad topping. Usually, the soy options are fairly expensive, hubby found a meatless special at the local store and dug in. I personally love the soy bratwurst, but it's about €2.80 for three. Totally worth it though ;-) I once tried the soy version of ground meat for a sloppy joe, but it was horrible, it tasted like bread on bread ;-)

Thanks a lot for your interest!!

  7. Wow, so many big things this week! Cast off, house building, awesome vacation...and sounds like you won't have any choice but to tell the tantrum story.
Hope you are currently having a fantastic time!

    1. Thanks a lot! Oh, the tantrum.. I wrote an email-equivalent of kicking, screaming, stomping, flailing arms, etc. to a very difficult business partner and got my way 100% and then some. I couldn't believe it myself ;-)

  8. Great list! I learned #6 at my old job a few years back. Those tantrums can work wonders!
Enjoy your vacation - I am on vacation this week too!

    1. Thanks a lot, Cyndy! The outcome of this tantrum surprised everyone in my office. Under no circumstances I can allow that our girls ever find out about the success of tantrums ;-)

    1. Thanks a lot, Kristi! It was a soft cast, so I was able to take it off every night for shower and bed, but it was still a relief to get rid of it, just in time for vacation ;-)

    1. Thanks a lot, Kristi ;-) It was an epic email tantrum, at least for everyone who knows my usual emails, and it got me what I wanted ;-)

  11. Lol like many I am really curious about this tantrum! I usually never talk much, so when I did they usually listened. I imagine it worked quite the same way (I hope) as a tantrum would. Hard to say, though... I left soon after >.<

So glad you have no cast and you can run like the wind now! Don't mess it up during this vacation! I hope you have a wonderful trip and I hope my words/participation doesn't sully your wonderful blog too much :-)

Congrats with the awards. Well deserved!

I was curious about the house, is it on the current land you are at now, or elsewhere? I was curious, because either I missed (or forgot) the details. It's great you are finally able to start on it, though.

    1. That's funny, Jak! It was definitely along that line. My emails are usually very nice and friendly, but this one was the equivalent of an epic tantrum to a very difficult business partner. But it got me what I wanted 100% plus an apology call, unheard of!!

Cast is off, foot is doing well, and distance is improving as well, I'm getting there ;-)

We are building a little town home on a piece of land in our current town. We had a very difficult time with the paperwork and getting everything started, but at the moment, it's going great. We just got power on the property, yay ;-) The foundation is drying right now and the actual building should start next week! Keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks again for filling in for me last week, I so appreciate it and loved your contribution!

  12. Okay, put me on the list for those that want a blog about the tantrum. Great that the cast came off in time for your trip. Enjoy it and know we'll all be awaiting your return, and the tantrum post! lol

    1. Unfortunately, I cannot really write a big post on the tantrum, because it's work, but I wrote an email to a business partner that was basically the equivalent of yelling, hitting, pulling hair, stomping, you name it. They were working on it for the last 2 years, and I eventually really had it. And suddenly, they did not only comply 100% but also called to apologize all the way from a country where they do not even talk to women usually ;-)

  13. There is something very nice about being able to "unplug" to spend quality time with loved ones. And even better when you know your posts are being taken care of. Enjoy your family vacation! Great list.

    1. Thank you so much. We had such a great time, but it was also stressful, entertaining the kids away from their toys on a daily basis. But we all had a lot of fun.

  14. I'm on the list for wanting to know about the tantrum, too.

    Vacay = great
Vacay without a case = completely awesome

    1. Thanks a lot, Dyanne! The tantrum was via email to a really difficult business partner. They've been working on getting me to this point for about 2 years, and I just really had it at that point. But the big surprise was that they not only complied but also called and let me know they've fixed it and apologized. There was a collective "WHAT???" in the entire office ;-)

We really had a great time, and the fact that I could walk pain-free and without a cast was definitely the cherry on top of it!
