And we're back to normal. First of all tons of thanks to Lizzi for keeping TToT up during the holidays, you're the best! My routine isn't quite back to normal just yet, as I'm still off work until Tuesday. In the meantime, I am thankful for:
1. Hubby getting to go to a rehearsal weekend with the orchestra. I'm missing him like crazy, the girls, especially little Violet are missing him, but I know that he deserves his time off so much. Since Lily was born, almost 6 years ago, he has not spent a single night away from us, so it's definitely his time to spend a few days with his other love :-)
2. Time off to spend with the family.
3. Lily for being such a mature, helpful, loving girl.
4. Violet, for being such an innocent, energetic, and increasingly strong-headed girl.
5. Home-made pizza for dinner.
6. Fun at the zoo.
7. Getting to watch Lily reading a book to Violet. Watching their love for each other, their trust and bond as sisters is beyond anything I can put into words.
8. Apple streussel cake snack with the girls.
9. Nap time.
10. More translation work. I'm getting back into the flow, and it's so much fun finally to work in the job I've been passionate since I've been a teenager.
I had a photo of an older sibling reading to a younger sibling in my post this week, too! It is one of my most favorite things to watch. Always has been.
ReplyDeleteApple Streussel cake. yum.
I miss nap time. 11 year olds usually turn their noses up at such an idea. :)
I'm glad your husband was able to go on his rehearsal weekend. It's important for married couples to do things the enjoy doing separately every once in a while.
Good for you, getting some more translation work. It's good to see a person doing what she's passionate about.
I actually meant MY nap time :-) Mine don't do nap times any more, unfortunately...
DeleteI saw your picture, too, Christine. It is definitely precious if the older siblings read or help the younger ones!
I'm also glad he got to go. He usually has practice once a week, but once a year the entire orchestra goes on a retreat for a weekend. I miss him like crazy, and can't wait to pick him up tomorrow afternoon. But I agree, I'm glad we have separate hobbies.
Have a wonderful new week, Christine!
I'm getting a might-be-a-good-year vibe out of this first week too… don't want to jinx any of us, so that's all I'll say
ReplyDelete'cept loved the gorilla
The gorilla was cool! Especially the live ones; they had a mom gorilla playing with her baby, SO cute! And I also have a feeling that this is going to be a good year :-)
DeleteTwo sweet pictures of your girls - love it! Violet looks a little apprehensive about that gorilla, even though it's just a statue. It's BIG.
ReplyDeleteHomemade pizza sounds wonderful, as does apple streusel cake.
Hope you've enjoyed your "girl" time while your husband's away, even though you've all missed him.
Violet still hadn't quite arrived yet, so she was still a little scaredy-pants. The pizza was awesome!
DeleteWe enjoyed our time, even though we all missed Richard badly. Glad he called tonight and we'll be able to pick him up tomorrow!
Have a wonderful new week, Dyanne!
Your girls are so stinkin' cute! And I love the picture of them reading together...it's always so nice to capture those moments when kids are sweet to their siblings.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're getting to do the work you're passionate about...always so satisfying, isn't it?
Have a Happy New Year!
Thank you so much, Mrs.! Those two are indeed adorable, if they're not quibbling :-)
DeleteIt's definitely satisfying. Like the best of two worlds, having my corporate jobs with all the benefits and a little more money on the side from my passion.
Happy New Year to you!!
Watching your kids play together is THE.BEST. My daughter has taken to inviting my son to play. He's too young to be very cooperative or long on the attention front, but I have hopes.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is, Sarah! How cute that your daughter invites her brother to play. As Lily needs a lot of free space for herself, so Violet gets to her sometimes, but she really tries hard :-)
DeleteHave a wonderful new week, and thank you so much for stopping by!
Love the pictures of the girls! Brent went back to work on Thursday & it was weird not having him here!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Steph! I'm going back to work on Tuesday, and I'm somehow ready to go back into my routine.. But believe me, in a week, I'll be wanting another vacation :-)
DeleteHave a great new week!
We totally did homemade pizza for dinner this past week and loved it. And I also have to say I loved that picture of Lily reading to Violet (so cute) and totally made me smile. Have a great rest of the weekend now, Stephanie!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Janine! Home-made pizza is great to let the girls be creative and prepare their own dinner :-) I just had to snap a picture when I found Lily on the couch reading to Violet. They are so sweet!
DeleteHave a great new week, Janine!
Stephanie, your girls are truly adorable. Glad they had fun too. And now, I'm in the mood for pizza!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Michelle! I hope you got your pizza!
DeleteHave a great new week!
I am so excited for him, too, being able to play music like crazy for a weekend. And I'm so excited to be able to pick him up tomorrow afternoon :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the girls' bookishness as well. I could read to them all day long! And it definitely seems to be a theme this week; a wonderful theme :-)
Have a great new week, Lizzi!
That apple cake sounds DELISH! And so sweet that your girls like to read together :)
ReplyDeleteThey started reading together fairly recently, and it is indeed so adorable :-) Thanks a lot for stopping by, Kate!
DeleteI love both of those photos. Reading together and trips to the zoo help compose a happy childhood!
ReplyDeleteThey had such a great time at the zoo, after Lily got over the alligators having died recently. We definitely do our best to create fond memories with the girls. Have a great new week, Kristi!
DeleteOH MY your girlies are cute! I loooooove the gorilla!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Zoe :-) all those statues around there were really cool, but the gorilla was the best by far!
DeleteI'm sure he misses all his girls just as much as they do him. We recently took a one-night girls only trip and left the Hub/Dad behind and he missed us terribly - said he couldn't sleep! Aww.
ReplyDeleteNap time - awesome. And the zoo photo is too cute.
Thanks so much, Lisa :-) He did miss us, too, and we're all happy to be back together! Have a great new week!
Deletemmmm, home made pizza is the best! I love the photos of your girls. Have I mentioned that I love their names too??
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Lizzy! The pizza was delicious, we should do that more often :-) We loved the flower names, and the funny thing is that they fit so much.. Have a wonderful new week, Lizzy!
DeleteThat's awesome about your girls, my sister and I were never that way, although now she's my best friend ever. I remember the first time my husband left me and the boy, the boy was very upset, and even forgot a few times while my husband was gone. When he remembered he started crying all over again. It's great your girls were so brave!
ReplyDeleteLily is very independent and needs her space, so they're not playing as often enough as Violet would like, but they are so great with each other most of the time. Poor little guy.. Violet cried during the first night, but hubby called the second evening and Violet was happy to be able to giggle to him on the phone :-) So glad to have him back though!
DeleteMy husband travels a lot and so I really understand the missing. I do hope he enjoys the time! It's good to see you and the girls enjoying yourselves, too! Love the picture of them reading together...that is the best!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Sandy! He had a great time, and felt very refreshed when he came home :-) Loved watching them reading together as well. This age is so great! Have a wonderful new week, Sandy!
