Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (13)

Ten Things of Thankful

It's Saturday again, and I have to say, it was a much, much better week than the one before.  Here are the things I am especially thankful for this week:

1. Hubby had his stitches removed, his face looks close to normal, and he'll even be able to play his concert tomorrow. That is amazing!

2. I survived my first week back at work, and from about Wednesday on, the urge to nap around 2:30 disappeared.

3. Supportive coworkers and an understanding boss.

4. Freshly baked pumpkin bread.

5. Cuddles on the couch with the girls.

6. Sleeping in.

7. Serenity on TV.

8. Fall, beautiful fall.

9. Our crock pot.

10. Baking with the girls.

Thanks so much for hosting, Lizzi!

  1. I am really glad to hear that you and your husband are fine again!

I started watching Serenity, too, but then found out that I already know it and now I switched to "Supertalent". It is good to watch it while blogging because you do not have to pay attention to any kind of plot ;-)

I bought a crock pot months ago and have not used it since then. Do you happen to have any good recipes you can share?

    1. Thanks a lot, Joy! I've watched Serenity before, too, but love that movie. Still mad they just cut the show! At least the movie tied some of the lose ends..

I'll email you a few recipes. A crock pot is so versatile, you can cook (or bake) literally everything in it!

  3. So glad he's recovered so well and everything is getting back to normal!

And I'm not sure what I'd do without my crock pot!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

    1. I only bought one again earlier this year. They are pretty much unknown here in Germany, and therefore it's not that easy to get them... Hubby made a vegetarian chili last week, SO yummie!

  4. Thanks a lot, Lizzi!

I don't think he would have been physically able to play with the stitches in, as his upper lip was somehow sewn on.. weird.. But the moment I stepped in the door after he got them out and he started to talk, I could hear the difference.

I love baking with the girls, even though there's a lot of "Violet, keep your hands to yourself, DON'T touch that!!!!!" to it ;-)

  5. wow...dodged the bullet! No stitches for the concert! Happy you both are feeling well and back to work. That first week is a real challenge to the system... nap time calls very loudly sometime between 2 and 3:30...

    1. Thanks a lot, Clark. Sometimes, gratitude is just that, very simple. But I am still very ungrateful for Firefly being disposed like that!

  8. Finally, finally you are all getting back to normal. So glad to hear it.
I love to hear when adults invite kids to bake/cook with them. It can make the baking more difficult, but there are so many positives that come with it.

    1. Thank you so much, Christine! It feels good that I can finally live up to the girls again, they deserve it and are much, much happier again.

I love baking with the girls, they love to help and the results taste SO much besser ;-)

  9. "Kiddified" with Violet would mean an unevenly flour-dusted kitchen with an egg-sugar-salt mix on the floor ;-) She's just too eager to help and scared to be left out.

The concert went well, Doing my best to be able to attend his next concert. Just love the Carmina Burana!

    1. Thanks a lot! We had a really yuckie day last week, and when I came home, hubby was cooking a chili in the crock pot. He read my mind at work ;-)

  11. Stephanie - Okay, I'm totally lost. I've gone back in several of your blog to September, and still haven't found out what happened to your husband! (But, I did learn several things about you in Jen's Sunshine questionaire and that you are in Germany, which I had no idea of!) Damn, I've really got to keep up better. My face is red.

    1. Rich: Hubby has a cross bite, which is being fixed right now, a 2-year procedure with several surgeries.

Yup, we live in Germany, have been for the last 3 years. I'm Germany, hubby's American, and after 4 years in the U.S., we thought it was time to relocate and confuse the girls with a new language and stuff ;-)

  13. I, too, have supportive coworkers/boss. It really makes work life much easier when life gets in the way.

Fall is beautiful and is my favorite season as well.

And really, pumpkin anything is pretty much amazing, but especially pumpkin baked goods!

    1. It definitely makes stuff easier, if I don't have to worry about work but can focus on getting better.

Pumpkin everything rules. I think fall is the only season that I could live with forever.. Or maybe not?
