Week In Review - Ten Things Of Thankful (14)
And before I know it, it's this time of the week again. I am getting better and better every day (besides hurting my back while coughing today). It was definitely a week with many, many things to be thankful for (besides this wonderful link-up; as usually, thank you so much for hosting, Lizzi!!)
1. Having the best hubby in the world who's working on those impossible knots in my shoulders with his delicate musician's hands. You're awesome, love!!
2. Lily being the sweetest big sister and sharing a snack with her little sister, without being asked to do so. So sweet!
3. A work week ending on a high note when my boss told me just before I leave work on Friday that I get to be a coach at the upcoming training at work. I'm over the moon excited!!
4. A beautiful weekend with great plans.
5. A great 16-year old who changed her weekend plans on a short notice to babysit for us tonight.
6. Getting to go out with the hubby sans children. I love our little ones to the end of this world and beyond, but every once in a while, we just need to spend time out as a couple, and I appreciate this rare occasion!
7. The smell of warm apple pie.
8. Lily getting to meet a friend today who she hasn't seen since August.
9. A clean house.
10. The 30 minutes in a crazy busy day to myself to reflect and be thankful.
Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Congrats on being a coach for the training coming up! WTG, and here's to a good week ahead!
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Michelle! I'm really excited; a great end to my work week! Have a great new week yourself and thank you for stopping by!!
DeleteYour hubby is a musician? Mine, too! What does your husband play?
ReplyDeleteHubby plays bassoon and had taught himself to play the bass guitar last year. He used to play professionally in Army bands but now he only plays for fun with my work's orchestra. What does your husband play?
DeleteWhat a great list... I could identify with all at some time or another... Have a great night out and what a great kid to change her plans!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Zoe! We really had a great night out, and with the proper preparations last night, the hangover was held at bay ;-)
DeleteSounds as though you have had a fantastic week! Congratulations on being chosen to be a coach for training (you should wear a ball cap and a have a whistle around your neck and a clipboard, just for fun).
ReplyDeleteWarm apple pie and a clean house sounds divine!
Thanks a lot, Dyanne! Something tells me though that the ball cap, whistle, and clipboard would not really be appreciated. But I might wear a whistle in my pocket, just for fun ;-)
DeleteThe pie will finally be eaten for dessert tonight, can't wait!!
From the beginning with the massaging of your neck to date night tonight, seriously so much to be thankful for and truly awesome. Hope you are indeed having great weekend!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Janine!! It was a great night out at my friend's birthday party, and we're having an overall wonderful weekend, even though weather kind of scratched our original plans for today.
DeleteHave a wonderful new week!
I hope you enjoyed the night out with your husband! :)
ReplyDeleteI sure have, Jen ;-) My friend celebrated her 33rd birthday at her dad's bar, so it was good food, plenty of drinks, and great company.
DeleteI'm really thankful we got the sitter. She's a great girl!
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a new position, it's more that I will be covering one topic at the upcoming training my department provides. But I'm so excited that I get to do it!! It's definitely a sign of appreciation, and I'm really, really thankful for it!
Hope you have a great new week, Lizzi!!
My goal is to clean today so I can be thankful for that too. Glad you have a fun night out!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Kate! Hope the cleaning is done quickly. I love a clean house, but not the act of cleaning ;-)
DeleteGreat list! I'm with you as far as the smell of apple pie and a clean house. Hope you had fun on your date!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Natalia! We both attended a friend's birthday party, so it wasn't really a date per se, but we had lots of fun!
DeleteEither way, I am glad you got the chance to go out and have fun :)
DeleteMost definitely; we had a blast!!
DeleteI trust you had an wonderful evening last night (I am *so* far behind), but it sounds like a major good weekend for you and the family.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely had a really, really great weekend, thank you, Clark!
DeleteThose back/shoulder massages are the best!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the work accomplishments.
It's important for married couples to get out without the kids every now and then. Those kids grow up, and you and your husband need to keep that relationship going strong! Glad you had a good time and a good sitter to take care of the kids.
The massage was heavenly ;-) I agree that it's important to go out without kids. Unfortunately, we don't have family around to watch the kids, and a sitter is expensive, so we splurge every once in a while ;-)
DeleteLove your list! Good to hear that your health is improving slowly! I hope you had a great night out with your husband!
ReplyDeleteI love a clean house, too! If only it lasted longer! ;-)
I know! About 2 minutes after I clean, the lint and sand fights back...
DeleteThanks, we had a great night. We don't get out much together, and really enjoyed ourselves.
Date night is so important. When the kids were little, we would sometimes trade babysitting with other couples. Other times, we'd eat take-out at home, rent a movie, or play backgammon after the kids were in bed. The kids always knew that Friday night was date night.
ReplyDeleteWe sometimes trade babysitting with friends, but more for day-time dates. I'd feel bad having other kids go to bed without their mom just because I want to go out ;-) But this girl from last Saturday is great, we'd definitely hire her again!
DeleteWe sometimes do home-dates, too. Dessert, a good wine, and a movie is all it takes ;-)
OK I love your list because it is real and honest and seemingly very "in the moment"...but I especially love Date Night and the Clean House. :) Congratulations on achieving both!
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous week!
Thank you so much! When I write this list I really try to recap my week to myself and remember the little things that stuck. And there usually are so many!
DeleteAre you still sick or did you just have a random bout of coughing? Glad your hubby could, once again, come to the rescue. Unfortunately for my Ladyfolk, my hands cramp up incredibly easy and so the act of given any lengthy massage is pretty nil. I think she can look past that, though... maybe...
ReplyDeleteGreat to hear you have such a wonderful weekend (and date night) planned! I agree (though no children of my own) it's important to take the time to have date nights with the husband/wife/sig other and get away from the kids briefly.
Congrats on the training. I definitely wouldn't want to attempt to teach anyone how to do anything ha!
Hope your daughter had fun seeing her friend. Perhaps the next visit won't be so long out?
Since moving my Magic collection into the living room, my place is far from clean. Clutter Central over here right now.
#7 is indeed great.
On to the second round!
Jak at The Cryton Chronicles & Dreams in the Shade of Ink
I was down with a mean spastic bronchitis (imagine asthma spray and stuff), Jak. Still dealing with the after-effects. Hubby's really my hero! He can't massage for very long either, but he's always to the point with the knots.
DeleteWe had a great night at my friend's birthday party. It's been a while since we've last been out without the kids! And I agree, it's important to go out as a couple every once in a while.
Are you purging? Or just re-organizing? I'm sure the Magic outbreak in your living room shall pass ;-)
Thanks for stopping by, Jak!
Soooo jealous of your first TToT!! Not even bribery or threats will make my other half do that. He did it at the beginning of our relationship ... must have been trying to make a good impression! Congratulations on being asked to be the trainer at work - isn't it wonderful when all your hard work finally gets recognised and rewarded? Have a wonderful week ahead :)
ReplyDeleteSorry your dude doesn't keep up with his responsibility. You should get yourself a massage for the holidays or your birthday!
DeleteI'm really excited about the training, and meeting some people in person that I've only known through email so far! My boss is actually really good at recognizing our work, which is one thing I like about her.
Have a great week yourself! ;-)
My comment from yesterday obviously disappeared into the void...
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you are finally slowly recovering and getting better each day! And how cool of your boss to acknowledge your work in this way!
I love a clean house, too! If only it lasted a bit longer... ;-)
No, your comment didn't disappear, I just didn't get to publish any comments until just now.. Sorry!
DeleteDefinitely. Thanks so much, Lizzi! I told my bos a year ago during our annual evaluation that I'd like to participate in the training at some point, and now I get the chance!
